Delete a Word file

Hello,

I am using Word 2003 and Windows 10.

For the past few days, when I click on a file in the explorer, a preview of that file appears on the right side of the screen. To access the file, a double click is still required.

After modifying the file, when I close it, it does not overwrite the old one; I am forced to create a new file. However, I cannot delete the old file, as I get a message saying it is open and needs to be closed (obviously, since as soon as you select it, a preview appears on the right side of the screen, it is indeed open).

Have other users noticed this malfunction?

How can I resolve this impasse?

    Hello,

Generally speaking, you can replace the double-click with a single click in Windows if it circumvents the problem, and the question of previews has been discussed recently here:

Furthermore, Office 2007 is fully compatible with Windows 10, but I'm not sure about 2003.

Hello, and welcome to the new member.

    brucine is right, as usual...

"How to get out of this deadlock?": We are in 2026!

    • It is imperative to replace Word 2003 with a less obsolete version.
    • It is necessary to consider replacing Windows 2010, which is at the end of its rope soon.
