LG OLED (4-year lifespan?!) ; motherboard failure
Steph -
Hello everyone,
I want to raise awareness about the lack of reliability of LG OLED televisions, particularly regarding certain internal components.
In my case, my LG OLED65CX6LA television broke down after only 4 years of careful use: after about 10 to 15 minutes of use, the image freezes, abnormal colors briefly appear, and then the screen suddenly turns off. It is necessary to unplug and re-plug the screen, but the failure consistently occurs after less than 15 minutes of use. This malfunction seems to be related to a motherboard failure, as many users have reported on the Facebook group "Panne Allumage OLED LG France".
Despite the clearly premature and abnormal nature of this failure on a high-end television, LG refuses any support, thus requiring me to finance the diagnosis and repair myself. Yet, similar cases involving the power supply board have often been fully covered by LG, even out of warranty (recognition of a reliability defect in internal components). Regarding the motherboard, it is more hit-or-miss: some consumers have obtained a free replacement or repair, while others have not. The underlying problem remains the same: a lack of reliability in essential internal components. This disregard for consumers is unacceptable for a product in this range.
In light of the lack of a solution offered by LG customer service, I submitted a report on signal.conso.gouv.fr (platform of the DGCCRF) so that this recurring malfunction can be brought to the attention of the authorities and to inform consumers.
I strongly encourage all customers experiencing the same type of failure to do the same, and to publicly share their experiences. Individual silence only delays the recognition of this potentially structural defect.
Until now, I have been a loyal and satisfied customer of the brand, but I regret the after-sales service unworthy of the premium positioning claimed. This experience calls into question the trust I placed in LG. Today, I regret having recommended this brand to my relatives for the purchase of OLED televisions.
A television sold for over 2000 euros should not break down after 4 years with reasonable and careful use. Is the lifespan of LG OLED TVs only 4 years given the lack of support from customer service?!
I am a demanding and careful user, who takes the time to analyze technical specifications and feedback before any purchase. I was clearly mistaken in placing my trust in LG for this OLED TV. I emphasize this point: unfortunately, many of us are facing this situation.
???? Consumers, be vigilant: the promise of LG OLED quality seems to expire much sooner than expected… and the after-sales service disappears as soon as problems arise.
