Unable to pay with my Amazon balance (gift cards)
billi -
Hello,
For many years, I've gotten into the habit of reloading my Amazon account every month so that I can pay more easily using my Amazon gift card balance.
Yesterday, as usual, I wanted to place an order, and on the payment page, the payment via my Amazon balance was no longer available; the gift card option was grayed out and indicated "payment method unavailable for this order."
I contacted customer service twice, without a response; it's the first time they haven't replied.
I think Amazon is likely prioritizing the Amazon balance for "Amazon Classic" products, that's my opinion, because my order did not consist of products sold by Amazon, in fact.
What do you think?
Have you ever encountered this problem?
(Knowing that this is quite new, this change has been in effect since around July 23)
Thank you for your responses.

Hi
The Amazon account is not a bank account or an electronic wallet; products or sellers are carefully selected by us.
Gift cards can only be used for the purchase of eligible products designated by us from time to time.
Cards are valid for 10 years after the date of issue, which would be the only other reason.
There has been a precedent. The Sun King spoke this way.
from May 1, 2023
This is the date of the terms and conditions for gift cards and not once on the page does the word PAY appear. Not bad, right.
An order can even be canceled by Us if We don’t like it.
Your balance in gift cards can only be canceled. (There’s no question of refunding).
But Us is well explained. Refers to (A.P.E.) the P. is for payments.

Indeed, it's quite vague.
I just checked, my last order (third-party seller) that I paid with my balance dates from August 29, 2023, so we can say that this novelty dates back to September 2023.
