Hello,

I have an Epson Perfection V600 scanner connected to my MacBook Air M2. I was scanning photos until the scanner gave an error with this message "Unable to send data. Check the connection. E583-A2016."

I tried connecting the scanner to my husband's PC: the scanner also freezes and blinks orange.

During my research, I read that if the film holder (photo film) is not in place and some holes meant for placing it are blocked, the scanner will freeze.

I have dusted everything off, unplugged, reinstalled, and I see no solution.

Do you have any idea please?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

What year is your scanner?

Good evening,

I searched for the error message "E583-A2016" and I couldn't find it along with A2016. I found others like "E583-B318".
Hence my question: is this the correct error code?

Regarding the orange blinking of the scanner that you mentioned in your message, I found this explanation in the User Guide of the scanner which can be found here on the Epson website:
https://www.epson.fr/fr_FR/support/sc/epson-perfection-v600/s/s881?selected-tab=&selected-os=macOS+13+%28Ventura%29
This guide states:

Orange light:
An error has occurred.
Check that the scanner is properly connected to the computer. Refer to the paper manual for instructions on how to connect the scanner to the computer.
Ensure that the scanner software is fully installed. Refer to the paper manual for instructions on how to install the scanning software.
Turn the scanner off using its switch, then turn it back on. If the status light still blinks orange, the scanner may not be functioning properly or the light source may need to be replaced. For more details, refer to the section Contact Epson Support.

You might want to contact Epson support by clicking on the "Contact us" menu and then on "Start" on the Epson website I indicated earlier.

I'm sorry I can't help you more than this.

Thank you very much for your response. I bought another one because I think the issue is hardware-related... Thanks again and have a great day!
