Poor livebox speed in the evening

Hello,

I've been experiencing an issue with my Orange box for a few weeks now.

In the evening, the speed becomes very poor (20mb/s). Restarting the box resolves the issue (200mb/s).

It's not the end of the world to have to restart the box once a day, but it's becoming tedious and it’s definitely not normal.

According to Orange, no problem has been detected. I will continue to push them on this.

In the meantime, I wanted to know if anyone else has encountered the same situation and if a solution has been found?

Thanks to everyone

Hello.

Is the measured speed via Ethernet, powerline, or WiFi?

Hello.

Measurements are done via Wi-Fi. No one is using a wired connection in the shared apartment.

Testing with Ethernet would allow us to determine if the problem comes from the fiber or the box? I could run the test with a cable the next time it happens.

I don't know about powerline adapters, sorry.

Thanks.

Being remote, I can only make assumptions; I don't think it's related to the fiber or the box's WiFi, as the problem would occur at any time of the day.

Since it’s a shared apartment, it’s normal for the base speed, which is a shared bandwidth among the roommates, to drop as more people connect, which is often the case in the evenings when everyone is present. The fact that the speed returns to normal after a reboot may be due to some roommates downloading files or using applications that consume a lot of bandwidth and are disabled by the box’s disconnection, or if you are in an apartment building, your WiFi may be hacked; in that case, you can change your WiFi password to see if things improve. If I were you, I would try to see if the problem is also present with Ethernet; the speed will be much better anyway with Ethernet than with WiFi.

As for me, that will be all; others may have more ideas than I do.

Thank you for your ideas.

I wasn't here last night when the problem occurred again, so I still haven't been able to test with Ethernet.

We live in a house, so I don’t think the neighbors are influencing it.

Regarding the number of devices, the problem manifested again yesterday when my roommate was alone.

And above all, we had no issues before, since the Livebox has been installed since February.

I will continue to search.

Thanks again for your time.

Hello,

For your WiFi, are you using a repeater... https://boutique.orange.fr/informations/repeteur-wifi-6/

When the speed drops instead of restarting your box, you should change the WiFi channel because if that channel is congested in the evening, you might experience this kind of issue.
