Hello everyone.
I would need your valuable advice for setting up two PCs on the Livebox.
Here is my problem:
I installed one PC on the Livebox using a WiFi USB key: perfect, everything works well!!
I wanted to install my laptop as well through my Ethernet card. At first, I could only access Google, and no other site was reachable. I then checked the network connections in Windows XP and created a bridge between the two icons present in the "network connection" window. Since then, I can access all sites (I don't understand why), however, the speed of loading internet windows is very slow even though I have an 8-mega subscription (actually 6 in my area).
I would be very grateful if you could help me understand why the windows are loading so slowly!!
Thanks again for your future responses and thanks to everyone who works on creating this great site.

Hello everyone, I only have one question: can we connect 3 PCs to the Livebox, and thank you for your responses.
I recently acquired the live box, and here's how I configured it:
It's important to know that the live box is a router, so it has several interfaces: an RJ11 interface to connect to the PSTN, a WiFi interface, a USB interface, and an Ethernet interface.
Each interface has a fixed private IP address, for example:
Int ethernet: 192.168.5.1
Int usb: 192.168.2.1
Int wifi: 192.168.3.1
The RJ11 interface will have a dynamic public IP address assigned by your service provider (we won't touch that).
You will notice that these IP addresses are of the form 192.168.x.1; they differ by the number x, which means that the network on each interface is different.
Now, when you want to connect multiple computers to your live box, you must pay attention to which interface you connect your PC to, and thus the choice of your PC’s IP address will depend on the interface.
A little practical example:
You want to connect one PC to the Ethernet interface and one PC via WiFi.
Let's assume the Ethernet interface has the IP address Int ethernet: 192.168.5.1. The PC connected to the Ethernet interface must have an IP address in the same network as the interface it is connected to, which is 192.168.5.x (x = you can choose any value between 1 and 254 except 0 or 255 (0 to identify the network and 255 for broadcasting). Note that this x must differ between machines on the same network, meaning those connected to the same interface.) The gateway corresponds to the IP address of the interface, which is 192.168.5.1, and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
For the PC on the WiFi interface, you just have to do the same, but the WiFi interface has a different IP address, for example 192.168.4.1.
For the DNS server IP address, you should enter the IP address of the interface your PC is connected to (if I'm not mistaken, I don't remember lol).
To modify these settings: Start>Control Panel>Network Connections>Local Area Connection>Properties>TCP/IP Protocol>Properties, and there you check the box to use the following IP address and fill in all the parameters as in the example above, likewise for DNS.
There shouldn't be any issues, normally.
So, it may not be very clear, but feel free to ask me, and if there are any mistakes in what I said, it would be great if you could correct me lol.
For my part, I connected 2 PCs to the live box ... one on the USB interface and the other on the Ethernet. I put both machines in the same workgroup, but they can't see each other in the group .. I created routes between these two machines via the router using the DOS command route -p add ... but that didn't work. What can I do? Does the live box block identification ports of machines on the network?
Thanks.

If you set up so many different networks, it may not work.

Step 1: Router connection
You need to connect the router to your ADSL/VDSL modem
as well as to the computers.
Most routers have 5 "RJ45" connectors
1 - intended to receive an ETHERNET cable to the modem
2 - 4 RJ45 outputs, each intended to receive an ETHERNET cable
to a PC with a network card
Step 2: PC configuration
For this, you have the option to configure the network settings
either to automatically obtain an IP address (or TCP/IP)
from your router's DHCP server or a fixed (static) address
which is a LAN (local) address and not an Internet address.
For Windows XP for example:
Click on the start button
then select the "control panel" - shortcut
then double-click on the "network connections" icon
Double-click on the "Local Area Connection" icon
to open the Local Area Network window, right-click.
Select the General tab and place yourself on the TCP/IP line
if the word TCP/IP appears alone - select that line
Then click on "properties"
If you choose to obtain an IP address automatically, check
this option.
Click on the Default gateway tab and fill in the
4 numbers separated by a "." example: 192.168.1.1
A bit of explanation.. this IP number is that of your router
check it accurately.. because for example for FreeBox
the number is 192.168.0.254 so it can be different from
one router to another, but the principle is the same.
These first 3 numbers are the range of numbers of your
local (LAN) network, the 4th is specific
If you opt for a fixed IP
Check "Use the following IP address" and fill in, for example,
192.168.xx.10 for the first PC
For your information, all your PCs must MANDATORY
1) have the 4th number different from one another
2) have the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd exactly the same as the router
Also check Use the following DNS server address
fill in these two addresses, they have nothing to do with your
local network but it's the address of your
ISP’s DNS server.. without this information your PC is unable to translate the
domain names (this address is on your paper documents with
your ISP contract)
Click OK
Close your windows
Note: configuring a WiFi card is EXACTLY the same
it is a network card like a wired card and each PC MUST be
configured the same way
Avoid the automatic installation method as it often causes
problems, particularly if the PC has previously been used with a
connection device from the PC to the Internet whereas in a network this last one
is totally transparent (delete any trace of connection sharing
it no longer has any reason to exist)
Step 3: Configuring your router
Here the explanation is for a Linksys WRT54G (with WiFi) and built-in Firewall
which has the advantage over other firewalls of not consuming
a significant percentage of CPU resources and thus
making your PC slower.
But for another brand, it is very similar
Launch IExplorer and in the URL field enter:
http://192.168.1.1 (be careful, verify this MUST be the address of your
router as mentioned above!)
Upon launch, the router will ask
1) the PPoE connection standard (generally)
if this router is behind another router set DHCP (such as FreeBox)
2) the username
3) a password
in the case of Linksys the name is: (nothing at all)
the password: (admin) to verify, see the manual
4) Check one of the following boxes:
- on-demand connection (simply browsing connects you automatically)
- always-on connection (never disconnects)
As soon as the next window opens, you will have a "setup" tab
click on setup and fill in
Name: <your login>@<your_ISP>
Password: <your password>
a little further down
DHCP enable/disable
check enable if you opted for an automatic address
check disable or enable for a fixed IP
nothing else to fill in of primary necessity...
Be careful to remove ALL CONNECTION SHARING from your PC, there are no
more operations nor connections to make, your router takes
everything in charge
This time if you have followed these few rules, your network
is operational
Good luck

J'ai un problème en fait, j'ai un ordi où la Livebox est dessus et cet ordi est sous Windows XP. Hier, j'ai acheté un ordi sous Windows Vista. Comment je fais pour raccorder la Livebox de XP à Vista ?
Is the live box a router?
If not, only one PC can be connected.
Additionally, what is the IP number of each PC?

First of all, thank you very much for this quick response.
But sorry, I am a novice and I don't know what a router is?
But I think that at Wanadoo they told me I could connect several PCs. I can access the internet on both PCs at the same time, but on the second one (the laptop), the internet display is very slow!
As for the IP addresses, I set the same one on both PCs:
192 163 3 50
But I understood that I shouldn't use the same one twice and I don't quite understand why!?

Hello,
in the modem configuration at http://192.168.1.1/, it is possible to secure the Wi-Fi access point in several ways; in my opinion, the best method is filtering by the MAC address or physical address specific to each computer. For those interested, simply type the command ipconfig /all in the command window and integrate it into the Livebox configuration.

I can't believe that people reading this forum can let ghost say such nonsense. Anyway, the Livebox is indeed a router, which allows you to connect multiple PCs via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB. The slow speed issue you're experiencing comes from the fact that you've assigned similar IP addresses. There is a different IP address for Ethernet than there is for Wi-Fi; you need to change the last number, but I can't tell you which one to use.
Hi,
It's true, the Livebox is a modem+router. Who has managed to set up the Livebox as a router via Wi-Fi?
My setup:
PC1 XP Pro connected by RJ45 cable to my Livebox through a hub via Ethernet
Family laptop XP connected by RJ45 cable through the same hub, but also via Wi-Fi
PC3 W98 connected via Wi-Fi
Observation:
Everyone has internet access, all good
The laptop accesses the internet via Wi-Fi
The laptop sees PC1 through RJ45 in the workgroup workgroup
PC3 W98 cannot see any other computers
In my opinion, I haven't been able to activate the Wi-Fi router function in the Livebox?
Thank you for your help

I set a password on my Orange messaging and I simply forgot the password. I would like to know if there is a way to recover it. It's quite urgent, thank you in advance.
To connect a second computer to the Livebox, go to network, left-click on internet gateway and properties.
Then click on network device, then on http://192.168.1.1?? in blue.
Next, type admin for the username and password, then click OK.
Disable TV via ADSL.

Hello, I managed to connect my PC to my Livebox, my computer connects to it but I can't access the internet.
With your working PC, bypass all the security measures of your Livebox and everything will be fine. We need to stop all this nonsense about security everywhere that prevents novices from being able to troubleshoot themselves... I'm fed up with fixing my friends' computers...
So here it is... to connect a PC that is already equipped with a Wi-Fi card, I advise you to do the following: detect the network of your Livebox with the equipped PC (you need to have already configured the Livebox for it to work in Wi-Fi, otherwise it won't work xD) then note the WEP code or whatever, depending on your configuration ( ! be careful, I didn't say to put it on the equipped PC! at least not yet) you press a button located at the back of your Livebox (maybe you've seen it already, right?) on the 1 (I don't know what the 2 is for). The 1 is used to synchronize with your Livebox. Then you enter the WEP code or whatever and it works... all this without installing Wanadoo on the equipped PC. But be careful!!! this manipulation only serves to connect you in Wi-Fi if you already have a PC connected to the Livebox by some means. I hope I have been clear enough, correct me if there's a problem, but the procedure to follow is this... proof! I'm writing to you with my mobile phone with which I did my manipulation... there you go, I think that's all ^^ and thank you for your explanations. In any case, Ghost, you say beautiful nonsense: I followed steps to solve my problem (which I solved by the way xD) and it just crashed my PC. Yep! Anyway, I just mixed the information. And there you go.
Ghost... you're depressing :)) You're asked for help with using a livebox and you (like the saying goes: there's none so deaf as those who don't want to hear) explain how to do it with another piece of equipment :)) Thanks for your help lol :) That said, I recommend to anyone who wants to connect their PCs via the livebox to go directly to:

Hello.
I just had the same issue.
In fact, it is about protecting the Wifi network by filtering the MAC address (unique for each TCP/IP interface).
When connecting from the portable device, you need to hold the REG button (near the power supply of the Livebox) to associate the client Wifi station.
I imagine, but I haven’t tried, that if you disable MAC filtering (wireless network menus => settings), this step is not necessary, but it allows any PC to connect (provided you know the WEP encryption code) to our network. So, that’s not recommended.
Bye.

Hi Tao, you've already helped me a lot with your notes and I thank you for that, I think it's cool! I'm struggling for the past two weeks trying to connect my two laptops via the wifi from the Livebox: I don't know why I'm not able to do it, but I'd really appreciate some help if you don't mind, since you seem to be an expert in this area:
I'll leave you my MSN address hoping you can help me... that would be really nice of you

Hello everyone, I would like to know how to connect a second PC to my Livebox (router) for internet connection? Orange Livebox (yellow and red socket) two different connections but one for digital TV output. However, I can't find how to access the Livebox since the IP address has changed.
And I'm really a novice in computer skills.
PS: Please help me (I've been at this for 2 days already and I'm fed up :(

To connect two computers to the Livebox, you need to install the installation CD on one computer, then on the second computer, install the CD selecting the option for the second computer. Next, on the first computer, go to START, ALL PROGRAMS, LIVEBOX, OPTIONAL SERVICES, MY SERVICES, HOME. Then, you choose the options you want for your Livebox.
Hello,
yes but I don't understand already about your email addresses, change the code then block his IP address through your Livebox. If he sees you, your Livebox sees him. Then a service doesn't mean a due (you tell him that Wanadoo has burned it, that will calm him down) and there you go, you recover your connection. You're crazy to let it happen, you don't know what you're really risking...

Hello, how can Wanadoo block it when the only subscriber they know is my line!!!!
And how can it have an IP address when it’s connected via Wi-Fi using my identity????
Thanks for replying...... but apparently, I don't have the level to understand your comments........
What do I actually risk (as you tell me!!!!)
Thanks and see you later, best regards Stéphane

Bonjour, wanadoo the grid, that's the excuse you give him, lol. Then yes, he connects via Wi-Fi on your line, but your live box distinguishes the computers separately. Go to http://192.168.1.1/ to access your live box and block his computer. Then imagine he's downloading; it's not trivial, and how will you defend yourself by saying you gave him your codes? It's enough for the guy to use your codes and just stay in the stairwell with a laptop, and he's connected. As for me, I wouldn't sleep, but at worst, plug yourself into Ethernet and disable the Wi-Fi ports so he can't see you anymore, but do something.
Hello, I have a little problem!!!
I want to connect a second PC to my Wanadoo Livebox
but when I try to install the CD with the Wi-Fi key
it asks me for the name of the Livebox and the Wi-Fi security key
I enter them, but I get a response saying either the name of the Livebox or
the Wi-Fi security key is incorrect. I've checked this at least 20 times
and there are no mistakes
I need your help, if you could respond as quickly as possible I
thank you in advance!!!!

Hello
At Orange, to connect something via wifi, just like with the competitors, you need to provide your key, your connection code, etc... but first, press a button on the back of the livebox (button 1, if I remember correctly). Then you follow the same steps as before (connection code, WPA key...)
Hoping I have been of help to you or someone else...

Hi everyone, I just got a Livebox and I have a little problem:
I connected my PC with the USB Wi-Fi adapter and there is no problem, I can access the internet
However, I wanted to set up the connection on my laptop equipped with a Wi-Fi card: I stupidly followed the manual: I installed the Wanadoo software, I connected the USB adapter, I accessed the internet with it.... then I put this USB connector back on my first PC and tried to access the internet via Wi-Fi with the laptop and there, problem: the Wi-Fi network is detected and I am connected but when I launch the browser, I end up on an error page: "unable to connect" etc...
I tried multiple solutions (IP, etc...) but I can't access the internet!
