Black screen when I launch a new game

Hello, I have a problem with my PC. For about two months, every time I install a new game, my screen goes black, except for a line of about 0.5 mm at the top of the screen (it's a horizontal line that crosses the whole screen, where I can catch a glimpse of the game).
Most of the time, when I manage to minimize this window, the game appears.
For example, for League of Legends, I had to change the resolution after minimizing the window.
But some games don’t allow me to minimize this window, so I can’t do anything.
I’ve already tried many tricks, but nothing works:
- I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers,
- Deleted the game, then downloaded it again,
- Reconnected all my cables,
- Attempted, from the game properties, to launch in windowed mode (to no avail),
- And tried all shortcuts to switch to windowed mode.
I recently bought Project Zomboid, but I can’t see the screen when I launch the game.
If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Hello,
That seems to be a frustrating problem, especially with the line at the top of the screen revealing the game. Here are some suggestions that might help you:
Update graphics drivers: Even if you have already reinstalled the drivers, make sure you have the latest version (directly from the manufacturer's website, NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel). Sometimes, the generic drivers from Windows may not be sufficient.
Check resolution settings: It's possible that a resolution mismatch is to blame. Try setting the Windows desktop resolution to the same as the one you use in-game (or vice versa, if you haven't thought of it yet).
Compatibility settings: For stubborn games, right-click on the game's icon > Properties > Compatibility tab. Try enabling compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows, and also check "Disable display scaling on this program."
Graphics application settings (NVIDIA/AMD): If you are using a control panel like NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Software, go to 3D settings and configure the settings for games in windowed mode (for example, try disabling fullscreen optimization, or forcing rendering in windowed mode).
Try a different cable or port: If your screen is connected via HDMI, try a DisplayPort cable or vice versa. This can sometimes make a difference, especially if the issue is related to screen synchronization.
Power options settings: If you are on a laptop, or if your graphics card uses multiple power profiles, switch to maximum performance mode to avoid mode changes during gameplay.
If after all that the problem persists, there may be a hardware incompatibility or a deeper software issue.
