    Hello,

I have a DVD in English

The real question is whether French subtitles and the French language are available on the DVD, and if they are not present on the DVD. In that case, the only option left would be to watch your DVD in English (or to learn English...).

    Regarding the rest:

If the French language is available on the DVD, normally, when you start playing the DVD, you should have a menu (visible on your television screen…) allowing you to choose to watch in French and also the French subtitles, provided they were included on the DVD at the time of its production.

He speaks French, not English :-)

See you blux "The jerks, they dare everything.
It's even how we recognize them."

Yes, I have the subtitles in French, but my television won't translate them.

What is the brand and model of your television and DVD player?

It is possible that the disc has a defect; in that case, is the surface of the disc clean, and is the disc scratched or not?

*Is this problem occurring with other DVDs or not?

*If the answer is yes, it is possible that the laser lens is dirty.

When choosing French in the DVD menu, are you sure you validated that choice in the DVD menu or not?

      .

Yes, I have the subtitles in French, but my TV won't translate them.

Uh, paradox! If the subtitles are in French, why do you want to translate them?

Yes, I have the subtitles in French, but on my television

In my opinion, he expresses himself poorly simply.

I think he is alluding to the fact that the subtitle menu is visible on the screen of his television.

It does not want to translate them

And when the translation does not happen afterwards!

Hence this question "When selecting French in the DVD menu, are you sure you validated this choice correctly in the DVD menu or not? ”.

And in principle, if the validation in the menu has not been done correctly and taken into account (for the selection of French…) in this context, the film will necessarily start in English instead.
