Unable to send emails with my Free address

Hello,

For the past few days, I have been unable to send emails (I have a .free address), neither via Mozilla Thunderbird on PC nor via my iPhone (whether I am connected to Wi-Fi or 5G...).

However, I am receiving my emails without any problem...

Last thing: I can send emails (and they are received by the recipients!) when I connect to Free's webmail portal...

This problem occurred overnight without me having changed anything in particular (at least I think)...

I admit I am completely lost and quite troubled!

Does anyone have a solution to propose to me?

Thank you in advance!

    Hi

Use this configuration for the SMTP that works whether you're with Free or Orange

Thank you very much, Kaumune! It works with this config'...

Hoping that Orange will fix the problem anyway...

    Hello

for Thunderbird, delete the free address and then recreate it, the software will retrieve the messages if the email account is set up with IMAP and SMTP free.fr and if you remember the password - to be checked before any modification -

do you have an error message?

Hello, what is your Internet Service Provider and your mobile provider?

    Hello.

Here's the error message on Mozilla:

    Sending the message failed.
An error occurred while sending the email. The mail server responded: 9IuUsgJXzpf0w Invalid sender, please use your Orange address. Invalid Sender. OFR203_406 [406]. Please check that your email address in the account settings is correct and try again.

    Regarding the iPhone:

I'm with Orange and the error message via the phone's mail app is: The sender's address is incorrect...

Funny that both started malfunctioning at the same time, right?

And also curious that I can still send emails if I go through the Free webmail "page"...!

In both cases that do not work, it is Orange that does not want to serve as a mail server for messages sent from your Free address.

In the case that works, you are using the mail server of Free, not that of Orange.

Some say that it is temporary, that Orange will adapt this, and that it is better to wait without making any changes.

Others say it is better to change your settings to use the Free mail server. That's what I would do.

        Hello,

I'm not aware of the recent situation, but a couple of years ago, I was never able to send an email from an Orange address using an SFR ISP, whether I used SFR's SMTP or Orange's.

        even using SMTP over TLS?

        Yes, in any case.

I can no longer be the guinea pig, my old Orange address has had its password disabled due to hacking attempts, and I can no longer access it to change it since, being an old account, I no longer have access to it.

    Hello,

Isn't it surprising that both started to glitch at the same time?

No, nothing surprising since it's an issue with Orange's servers.

Thank you very much, it's clearer for me now!

It works well with the configuration proposed by Kaumune...
