Good evening,

for a few days on my Samsung A54, when I take a photo and go to the gallery to view it in full size, I get a white file. However, it appears correctly in thumbnail.

I may have activated or deactivated an option in the settings.

Hello,

With the file explorer My Files, go to the folder DCIM>Camera.

You will probably see the photo (its thumbnail).

By pressing and holding the photo, you can access the properties: More > Details.
You will see the file size. This will already give you an initial indication of its state.

Transfer the photo to another device (computer or tablet) to see if it displays normally.
To transfer it, you can send it to Google Photos. You can then easily download it.

What is well conceived is clearly expressed,
And the words to say it come easily.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I want to clarify that the detail doesn't provide me with any information. When I try to share the photo, I get the message: Unsupported file. When I try to delete it, I receive the following message: Unable to move the image to the trash.

Thank you very much.

For your information, I do not use Google Photos. Indeed, I find all the information and details of my photos and screenshots in the DCIM section.

My question is the following: how can I find (as before) in the gallery the photos and screenshots that I take with my camera?

Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the gallery to solve the problem since no action is possible on the photos located there, not even putting them in the trash?

The question is whether the problem is due to the photos themselves or the image manager (the Gallery).

That's why I suggested sending a photo to another device to see if that photo opens correctly on that other device.

If you do not send it via Google Photos, you can send it by email or share it via WhatsApp, etc.
You can do this directly from the My Files file explorer, without going through the Gallery. Just press and hold a photo to access all possible actions.

In the meantime, you can also restart the smartphone (complete shutdown + restart). If there's a bug, that might be enough to fix the problem.

Hello,

So I turned off the smartphone but the problem is still present and the people I send the photos to can open and see them.

I think, but I'm not sure, that the problem comes from the gallery. What do you think?

Yes, it probably comes from the Gallery.

The good thing is that we are sure the camera is functioning normally.

It's the Gallery's ability to handle these new photos that is the issue. I've looked into it a bit, but for now, I don't see where the problem might be.

We have few actions possible on the Gallery. If we clear the cache, the Gallery will have to rebuild it, and that will take a long time. And we can't be sure that it will solve the problem.

I'll do some more research...

Hello,

After some research on the web and various forums, it seems that I'm not an isolated case. Quite a few problems similar to mine and no solution, not even from Samsung.

I cleared the cache and deleted the gallery data from the "applications" section but nothing works.

Maybe an update will fix the problem.

Thank you very much!

Hello,

So the problem was resolved with a software update that I received on my smartphone. At the end of this update, I found all my photos and videos back in the gallery.

I wanted to sincerely thank you again.
