Issue with Google Photos and Samsung Gallery

Hello! Yesterday I tried to sync the Google Photos gallery from my phone to that of my PC. But to my surprise, I just saw this morning (when the sync was finished) that Google Photos had taken possession of lots of photos from my Samsung gallery. This means that half of my Samsung gallery was only available on Google Photos because it was deleted from my Samsung gallery without my permission!
So I tried to download from Google Photos some photos that used to be in my Samsung gallery, but they were downloading with a completely different date! I don't know if I described the problem well... I'm really afraid I've lost my photos (I mainly use the Samsung gallery and I don't want to use Google Photos primarily!!) Thank you in advance, have a great day.

Hello,
Point 1: It is important to know that the Gallery is a photo manager.
The photos themselves are stored in a folder called DCIM, sometimes in a subfolder named Camera. Using the file manager of the smartphone called My Files, try to locate DCIM and its subfolders and see what it contains.
Point 2: When the photos are synced to Google Photos, Google never deletes them from the smartphone. If they have disappeared, it's because you moved the photos instead of allowing the synchronization to happen automatically.
Synchronization settings on the smartphone:
Go to Settings => Google (Google services) => Backup => Photos and videos
Back up and sync must be checked. Below you have settings including the quality of the photos imported into Google Photos.
On the computer, you will find your Photos in Google Photos.
Disadvantages: By proceeding this way, everything is automated, but you are sending unimportant images to Google Photos that take up space. It is up to you to clean up and delete anything that doesn't interest you.
What is well conceived is clearly expressed,
And the words to say it come easily.

Thank you for your response. But then, how can I restore the photos that were moved to Google Photos back to my Samsung gallery? Because now the photos have taken up all the space in my Google account and, according to an alert message, in 24 hours I will be unable to send and receive emails. Thank you in advance.
The photos must be downloaded from Google Photos.
1) On a smartphone
Go to Google Photos.
Select the photos. At the bottom click on Share. You need to select the File Manager that is installed on the smartphone. If you don't see it, click on More.
When you find it, click on that manager; select the folder where you want to save the photos. Then click on Save.
Once you are done, the photos will automatically appear in the Gallery.
2) This is not always easy to do. Here’s how to retrieve the photos on a computer:
Go to Google Photos.
Select the photos and then click on the three dots at the top right. Choose Download.
Google creates a .zip archive that is downloaded to your computer in Downloads.
Click on this archive to see the contents and place the photos by dragging and dropping them into the folder of your choice (probably Pictures).
3) When you are sure that the photos are on your computer or smartphone, you can go back to Google Photos to delete them. Do not do this beforehand.
Unfortunately when I try on my phone, Google Photos does not offer me the option to share photos to my File Manager. Instead, it offers me: "Create a link," "Nearby sharing," "WhatsApp." I am attaching the options I see when I select More.
I know that the behavior is a bit surprising. (That's why I considered the recovery on computer).
Personally, I see the 2 file managers that I installed: File Manager + and FX; but I don't see the one that comes with the smartphone (My Files from Samsung).
