Antivirus to disable on Thunderbird
Anonymous user -
Hello,
Hello everyone,
I just realized that to receive my Orange emails on my incoming mail in Thunderbird, I have to disable my antivirus Defender. Is there a way to resolve this or a solution besides disabling my antivirus? Thank you for your response.

Hello,
The antivirus has nothing to do with the issue unless it intercepts attachments that it analyzes and doesn't like.
I am not in favor of allowing an antivirus to scan in real time: it's always better to save the attachment to the desktop and scan it if you have any doubts.
It’s probably the Windows Defender firewall that is blocking Thunderbird, and you need to create permission rules or, on the contrary, modify a blocking rule if one already exists.
Thunderbird should be allowed outgoing UDP on port 53 (DNS) and outgoing TCP for the receiving ports used by Thunderbird depending on whether it’s POP or IMAP, according to the Windows Defender settings that I no longer remember. -
Hello drizzle
Yes, it is indeed Windows Defender that is blocking my emails on Thunderbird because when I disable it, I receive them.

It is therefore essential, to define the role of the antivirus, to verify that the situation occurs even when the email does not contain an attachment (in short, that we cannot connect at all).
It is then the firewall that comes into play; we need to check if there is already a rule for Thunderbird. If so, modify it; if not, create one to allow the necessary connections.

I know that there has to be a winner, but I still felt a little heartbroken for the Irish who provided us with a wonderful match and who also deserved to win.
There is a controversy over the group system, which is very uneven, resulting in several high-stakes matches at the quarter-final stage that would have been more suitable for the semi-finals, leading to a surprising Argentina in the semi-finals and a no less surprising England-Fiji in the quarter-finals.

Re:
Yes, even without an attachment, it's the same.
I did send a message on the TB forum without any real concrete solution. I will look into your link; otherwise, I thought about disabling Defender and installing another antivirus to see.
