Hello,

For years, I've been using the classic version of Thunderbird and backing up the folder named profiles by copying it in Explorer from:

         %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\

Then one day, I downloaded portable Thunderbird and configured the 10 email addresses, and when launching it, it works super fast, and the external save of the profiles directory is now located in the directory:

Download \ Thunderbirdportable \ Data \ profiles

My question is what are the differences between classic Thunderbird and portable Thunderbird?

Hello,

Are you constantly on the move? What if you could carry your favorite messaging software and all your emails in your pocket on a USB drive?

For roaming enthusiasts, Portable Apps has developed Thunderbird Portable, an adaptation of Thunderbird that has the advantage of being able to run from a USB drive. To access your email, simply plug the drive into a computer's USB port and use the messaging software as if it were installed on that computer. When you fetch your emails, they are stored on the USB drive.

A few questions

What differentiates Thunderbird from Thunderbird Portable?
In terms of functionality: nothing. The software has simply been adapted to work directly from a USB drive. Settings and emails are thus stored in a directory independent of the Windows user account, and the program does not use the Windows registry.
