The sound from my PC cuts out randomly.

Hello,

I have a problem with my PC for over a week now. The sound randomly cuts out; sometimes nothing happens for hours, and other times the sound cuts out every few minutes for about fifteen minutes. I can always get the sound back with the icon in the bottom right, but it's still quite annoying to have to do that every time. Every time this happens, the sound icon in the top left of the screen appears with the sound muted. I haven't found a solution to this issue so far; has anyone else experienced the same problem and found a solution?

Thank you very much!

Hello,

Do you know what model your sound card is? Perhaps the drivers for your sound card are not up to date?

Hello,

The sound card is Realtek S1220A Codec, and it seems that all the drivers are up to date.

Attached is a screenshot of the icon that automatically appears in the top left when the sound cuts out.

So, it's the sound that mutes itself.

Simple question: could it be a problem with the keyboard (the key that controls the sound) having a short circuit and muting/unmuting the sound by itself?

Otherwise, I did some research and found this topic that might help you:

You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the sound device:

- Right-click on the Windows symbol at the bottom left of your screen and click on "Device Manager"
- In "Sound, video and game controllers," locate your sound card
- Right-click on it and click on "Uninstall device"
- If a confirmation window opens, accept
- To reinstall, click on "Actions" in the menu at the top, then "Scan for hardware changes."

- Make sure the drivers are up to date (right-click on the sound card and "Update driver" then "Search automatically").

- Restart the computer

Also, if it's a driver issue, some brands like Intel or HP provide online assistants to detect the PC hardware and if all drivers are up to date.
