Unable to access SFR mailbox
Solvedmamiebou -
Hello, I had to change my provider because Orange doesn't have coverage where I am now, so I switched to SFR. The phone works fine, but the messaging on my PC doesn't work.
I chatted with their service, and they tell me to use Chrome;..... I DON'T WANT TO, I am using FIREFOX and I'm fine with it. I don't want to change;
Can someone please tell me how to fix this?
Thank you very much for your help.
Sincerely

Hello,
I don't see what the problem is, unless you might allow a script blocker like NoScript.
You can either connect directly to the Webmail (type “Webmail sfr” into Google for the link), or to your sfr client account which has a messaging tab.
In both cases, you'll need to make the first connection with your sfr email address if it is already set up or your phone number and set your password.
The third option, which I prefer (but everyone has their own choice), is to use a mail software like Thunderbird, always with those credentials.
Hello Brucine, thank you for your help, but below I am pasting what I get once I am on the messaging:
Manage my email addresses
Your Mobile offer allows you to create an email address.
The address xxxxxx@sfr.fr is already associated with this account.
So, once I'm on this page, my email address being properly registered, I can't go any further? ... I can click anywhere, nothing happens.
This is therefore my question, how do I access my emails?
Thank you
Hello,
If there is already an address, by definition, you do not recreate it: you use this email identifier and the corresponding password to log in to the Webmail or to your client account.
Can you log in to the latter?
We might (not sure for a simple mobile subscription and not a Box, to be verified) be able to create another email alias in the client account if we want it to be different (which will point to the same inbox but with a different identifier, name of the other email, and different password).
I don't see the browser's report, I use Firefox to connect to SFR without any problem unless there's a script blocker (what's that icon next to downloads?) or, but I doubt it, a popup or cookie blocker in the settings.
Did you go to the Mail icon on the right of the portal (which leads directly to the inbox when it exists)?

If it's the browser that's at fault, we can always try temporarily with whatever we want (preferably Edge which is built into Windows rather than Chrome, to avoid installing something else) to put it into question or rule it out; we can also try again by clearing everything except Firefox's data in Tools-Settings-Privacy-History-Clear and then closing and restarting Firefox.
next to the download arrow, there's Pocket,
what is a script blocker? OR popups or cookies?
yes, I did click on the email envelope, I also consulted the support, I also chatted with them, it's them who told me to use Chrome, by the way, it is clearly written in the support "preferably Chrome",
for the last paragraph, it's too hard for my brain, I won't be able to do that.
I was talking about the download icon on the right, not the one on the left.
Check if you have any Firefox extensions, and if so, which ones: Tools-Extensions and Themes, enabled.
Clean up Firefox as indicated in the last 2 lines of the previous message, just follow the instructions provided.
Try to see if Firefox is really the issue (it works for me...) with Edge: if you don't know where it is, type edge.exe in the search bar on the left.
Aside from the previous checks:
-Is there a malicious antivirus other than Windows Defender?
-You didn't mention what happens directly via WebMail, email ID plus password.
-Another solution, try to connect via a mail software, for example Thunderbird, using the same credentials: I often get kicked out of my client account because a pheasant regularly tries to log in and fails the code, but even during that time, the email remains accessible via software with the same credentials.
On the right is an M and there are several lines of options: Orange mail management (I was with Orange), synchronize now, connect to a device, synchronization settings, disconnect, and Monique's Firefox on Neptune, no tabs open. That's what is written in the options, then again to the right there are extensions, word document editor only.
I disabled adblocker, apart from putting ads back on the SFR homepage or webmail, nothing has changed.
For webmail, it's the same thing, it indicates that my email is indeed associated and that's it, impossible to click on anything afterwards.
I still have the following question:
I was with Orange, my account has been closed with them since the 21st and my box is SFR fiber, my mobile has an SFR SIM, but I notice that my emails are still arriving in my Orange mailbox!! Is that normal?
I thought that since I left this provider, I should now receive my emails from the new provider.. Am I wrong?
The M, I suppose it's your online Firefox account (maybe that's what's causing the issues?), I don't know, I don't use it.
When you cancel, access to the Orange account becomes impossible but the email is legally retained for at least 6 months, with Orange it can last for years as long as there isn’t a password block due to, for example, a hacking attempt; it will therefore at least work for receiving emails, sending is much less certain, and it is your responsibility to inform your contacts, suppliers, administrations... of your new email address (when it works).
You still haven't told me if Firefox is the issue, if you've cleaned it up, if it works in Edge or possibly via Thunderbird; I don't see any other avenues.
I couldn't find the 2 lines you mentioned for this Firefox cleanup. How should I proceed, please? Thank you.
Okay for the Orange account, so it's normal that I continue to receive emails. I'm willing to inform my correspondents, but only when I'm sure to receive and especially read emails with SFR.
Regarding Edge and Thunderbird, I don't have those things.... I've never activated Edge; it seems invasive and intrusive to me, and since I function very well without it.... for my personal needs, I'm not saying it's not good for others.... but for me, I don't use it, and the same goes for Thunderbird since I had Orange, which is perfect for my needs.
For cleaning Firefox, start by temporarily disabling the sync account if possible, you never know.
For the cleanup, go to the tools at the top of the menu (click on the right side of the top bar, click on menu bar if it’s not there).
Go to Settings, on the left Privacy & Security, scroll down to History.
Choose to clear history, check everything in the history section, set the time range to clear everything, clear now.
Close Firefox and restart.
Regarding Edge for testing, unfortunately, we don't need to install it, it's included by default in Windows 10, which allows (search as I said Edge.exe) to test without having to install anything and without needing to use it in the future.
For Thunderbird (or other email software), it's up to you, the test allows you to check (as in my case when the SFR account password fails) if you can retrieve your emails (or write one if there aren't any yet) despite this failure.
Hello Brucine, I did everything, tried everything, Thunderbird, Edge, disabled stuff, I cleaned up with CCleaner, I deleted history, in short, I couldn't do it.
So I'm going to give up for now, and when I get a chance, I'll go to SFR to see how to fix my problem.
In the meantime, I really thank you for your patience and have a good Sunday.
Best regards.

Good evening Brucine,
I'm getting back to you, I haven't had the time to go to SFR yet, but while browsing the internet, I found this post on a forum, and before doing anything on my computer, I would like you to take a look at it and see if it is feasible and especially reliable. Does it pose any risk to my PC and could it damage its contents? I admit I didn't understand everything he said, but according to him, this Jacquesma05 clearly states that SFR Mail isn't designed for Windows!
So can you break down what he says, and if it's possible "in case this system is usable," please tell me simply how I should proceed.
Thank you very much in advance. Regards, Mamie boutique
Hello @jacquesma05 ,
The SFR Mail app is not written to work on Windows.
It exists for Android and iOS.
However, if you are handy:
1 - use an emulator
- install an Android emulator on your computer (for example Nox Player)
- download the SFR Mail APK
--> https://sfr-mail.fr.aptoide.com/app
- install the APK in the emulator
To check your emails with the SFR Mail app, start the Nox emulator and then start the SFR Mail app in Nox
2 - If you have Windows 11 it seems possible to install APKs there
There is a much simpler and more reliable solution, install an email client like Thunderbird, Outlook, Mail for Mac, etc. (there are others).
To install Thunderbird
--> https://support.mozilla.org/fr/kb/installer-thunderbird-sous-windows
To set up your email addresses
--> https://support.mozilla.org/fr/kb/configuration-automatique-de-compte
Hello,
apart from using Thunderbird, which I mentioned and you say doesn't work, nothing to do with the question, since apk applications are indeed only intended for android (so to simplify, for a mobile phone), and we certainly won't install an android emulator on a PC for so little since on a PC, there's nothing to install to access a webmail.
You can access it on a PC, and as you know, directly via webmail.sfr.fr
https://assistance.sfr.fr/sfrmail-appli/sfrmail/accueil.html
or indirectly through your customer accounthttps://assistance.sfr.fr/gestion-client/identifiant-mdp/premiere-connexion-espace-client-sfr.html
on that note, your screenshot in <5> leaves me wanting more.
I personally have 2 SFR subscriptions, initially one for my Box, and a second for my phone.
The first is by definition linked to a fixed line number whether we use it or not, but accessible with my SFR email as the identifier, the second has the mobile line number as identifier.
All of this is quite semantic, whether I log into my SFR customer area with my SFR email or my mobile number, this customer area displays both subscriptions, I can navigate from one to the other, and if I remember correctly, SFR has associated the email address of my Box subscription with my mobile line, unless, I don’t remember exactly but I don’t think so, it offered me a third-party address that I switched to the existing one.
What I mean is that, even if that's the case, there's no reason to have a different email address for your phone and your PC, and therefore, we have no reason to want to create a secondary email address for our phone, we just use the one that already exists for the Box and thus for the PC.
Hello Bucine,
I'm glad I asked for your opinion! Thank you. This morning, SFR sent me texts asking if everything was working, and since I of course replied no regarding the technical issues, they sent me a link so that they can send me "their Smart Wifi technician." So let's see how that goes.
Thank you.
Hello Brucine,
well, I don't know what to think about it, but it's really a load of nonsense "at least from my point of view."
When the SFR site asks me to create my @sfr.fr email address, it's not for receiving or sending emails!!! It's simply for their billing and for me to be able to check it....
In fact, they say that - which you had also pointed out to me - orange continues to work. On the other hand, they told me to call orange at 3901 to confirm that I keep my old email address, but this number does not work for individuals.
So, here is the state of things today. I'm sorry for having wasted so much of your time, but frankly, the information we are given is not clear at all.
Thanks again to you and best regards.

No matter what you make of it, and it's not just about billing: there is always an SFR address associated with the Box that serves as an identifier, for example, if you want to configure something in the available options or if you want to check your emails from the Webmail, your SFR account, and even from an email client.
As for Orange, you can call as much as you want, it won't change anything: you are no longer a customer, you no longer have an account, the email address is legally functional for 6 months after cancellation and in practice often much longer as long as a security measure doesn't block the password, but you have no way to formally demand that this address be kept.
