Limited connection

Hello,

I have been connected via Ethernet cable for a long time, and overnight my connection has become very poor (I have fiber). The problem is that I noticed this:

In the cable properties, it shows "connection speed (download/upload) 10/10 (Mbps)" and for example, when I start an update and go to the task manager, it shows "network 100%" for only 1MB/s, which was not the case before.

If you have any solutions, I'm all ears...

    Hello,

Usually, fiber connection is faster than ADSL, but in fact, you haven't provided any numbers and we don't know your subscription... or your equipment..??

-- So a good test of your speed displayed here would be another approach on https://www.nperf.com/fr/

by being the only one connected via RJ45, directly behind the BOX... and Wi-Fi turned off during the test.. and attach the URL sharing link of the result here.

-- If you had a Switch back in the ADSL days, it is likely that it can no longer keep up with the new speed; and that changes everything.

Otherwise, you need to check with your provider...

      Here is the result: https://www.nperf.com/en/r/3456111630698703-lHjrB4rn

To clarify, I already had fiber before this radical change, I haven't touched anything since.

Moreover, I haven't changed my equipment or my subscription, the only change is that I went from about 15Mb/s to less than 1.5Mb/s

    Hello.

If you are connected via Ethernet through a wall socket or using powerline adapters, connect your PC directly to the router; if your problem disappears, it means the issue is with the wall socket or the powerline adapters.

But above all, before I had no problem and I changed the cable because my PlayStation next to it has no problem. I can try, but since I have a tower to move it to my box, it's a bit complicated.

Furthermore, I don't understand the fact that when I go to "network center then ethernet I see a speed of 10 mbps, which is not logical at all.

        Hello,

yes, it makes sense when auto-negotiation of your network card's speed isn't working properly, either due to the cable or the card being faulty.

It's true that your bandwidth isn't great...!! let's say it's abnormal for fiber... If you are indeed connected directly to the back of the BOX...

If you could do the same test with another PC, that would also be good...

Because we don't know the model of your PC or its motherboard..??

If that's the case, there's a problem with your line or in the BOX... you need to check that with Bouygues, the line or the NRO centers==>PBO.... there might be some critters that have eaten through the line..!

Also check if your connection is underground or overhead...? "take a look" for any incidents, anomalies that could affect this fiber and damage it ..?? that could be a clue.

You could also run a command line that gives information about your network, on your PC, in a DOS window (Windows + R)

    "ipconfig /all > texte.txt & notepad texte.txt"

and paste all the text here.

    Hello,

can you also post the results of these commands here? An image capture will be sufficient:

     (Get-NetAdapter -Name "Eth*").LinkSpeed

    and

     (Get-NetAdapter -Name "W*-F*").LinkSpeed

    Thank you.

    Sklt

    Some points remain unclear

    Which fiber (subscription)? Which box?

How is this PC physically connected to the box?

A single and direct Ethernet cable (of what type? at least Cat5e?)?

An Ethernet cable into a wall socket?

An Ethernet cable through two powerline adapters?

I went from about 15MB/s to less than 1.5MB/s

    Even 15 MB/s with fiber isn't great

    Indeed, one might wonder..??

"I can try, but since I have a tower to move it to my box, it's a bit complicated." How is it connected then..?
