PPPoE Settings for Connecting to a PS4

Hello,

First of all, I hope I'm in the right topic.
I'm reaching out because I'm having some issues with the PPPoE connection for my PS4.
I've watched some tutorials, followed them to the letter, but despite that, I can't get it to work. They usually talk about the bbox 2 or 3... but I have the bbox 1, so the box settings are different and I can't seem to find the correct configurations...
Let me explain what I've already done:
- Searched for my PPPoE IDs (username and password)
- Since the password wasn't working, I changed it via the Proximus website, and I had to dig inside the box to find my internet connection again...
According to the tutorials, after doing this, I could connect using my IDs and acquire a NAT type 1 connection....
But nothing is working; I tried changing @SKYNET to @PROXIMUS... I really don't know what else to do, I've searched online, but haven't found any answers..

I hope one of you can shed some light on this! Thank you in advance for your responses.

    Hi,
    I don't know about the Proximus boxes, it might just be a modem, but everywhere else, the PPPoE connection is made on the box, the connection being shared by the box on another local IP network (NAT router), so the console just connects via Ethernet and DHCP, not PPPoE.
    If there's a router for internet access: PPPoE on the router, if there's a modem for internet access PPPoE on the machine connected via the modem.

      Hi Frenchy,

      the "bbox" is the modem-router from Proximus/Belgacom, the first one is very old and we hardly see any left, because they have all broken down or been replaced by 2 or even 3, a matter of being VDSL-friendly.

      That said, the PPoE connection on the Proximus network is limited to authorized devices... So the PS4 will never be able to connect :-))

      It's a matter of "technical" to avoid disrupting the neighboring VDSL 2/3 lines... so only "validated" devices can connect (namely, the BBox, OBox and certain Fritz!Box and a few other "pro" routers)

        I was right then, Belgian friend :-)
        We connect through the box using PPPoE and NAT router, even if we have to put the console in DMZ if we can't manage the NAT forwarding.

        Absolutely!

        Although, on this one... It's a real hassle because every reboot it loses all the information... (static IP, NAT, maybe even the DMZ.... and so we have to reconfigure everything :-))

        So we have a better chance of bridging it or getting it replaced with a more recent one... :-)

        And generally, they're not very "against" replacing a BBox 1 with a 3... Because it helps avoid disruptions on the network.
