Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC (from 2014) to at least Windows 8 so that I can use Visual Studio Code.

1. Is it possible for free? I've already done some research and after about 64 updates (no, this isn't a joke), I still can't upgrade. I even downloaded Windows6.1-KB2990214-x64 but with no success. I would be just as happy with Windows 8 as with Windows 10. I just need to use this software.

2. Will I need to back up all the files on this PC before the update?

Thank you for your attention to my message. I wish you a pleasant day in advance.

Sincerely, :)

    Hello.

It is not possible to upgrade to Windows 11, your PC is too old; upgrading to Windows 10 is very simple.

You need to upgrade to Windows 10 (everything will be saved), download this Microsoft tool, open the tool and follow the instructions below; normally you won't be asked to pay for a license, but if that is the case, see this page.

Make sure to check the box as shown in the photo.

Do as you wish, know that in computing, the zero risk does not exist.

      Hello,

Avoid burning to CD. Instead, use a USB drive (minimum 8 GB) for the ISO file; that's the file for installing Windows 10, right?

    Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC (from 2014) to Windows 8...

Give up the project. Versions 8/8.1 are no longer updated. They have been abandoned by Microsoft since the beginning of this year, 2023.

Read carefully the following. It's important. Either you install an alternative to Windows, such as Linux, or you get yourself a new PC. Yours is outdated.

    Hello.

    To know.

    Install Windows 10 for free.

I have a legal Windows 7 activation key (not used on another computer)

I downloaded Windows 10 on a USB drive.

I install it and enter the Windows 7 License activation key when prompted. It's legal and hassle-free.
