Epson printer ink foam that comes off

Hello everyone!

I'm turning to you because I have a little problem with my Epson XP-2150 printer and I can't find any post discussing it: there’s a small strip of foam located at the ink cartridge passage that, even when I bought my printer, tended to detach, so I would put it back as best as I could. But now I tried to print, the paper got stuck, and I see that this foam has come off again and this time it's torn in two. I think I can't print without it? How do I change it, I don't even know what this thing is called ^^ Thank you!

    Actually, I don't know if you're able to see my photo, but I just have to lift the printer to see the location of that foam, and it doesn't seem to look like what you're showing me :((

      It's located right below the ink cart!

        My image above was just an example that does not correspond to your printer's pad as I couldn't find the same one ...

        Your image looks more like a piece of plastic than a used ink absorber pad ... unless it's just below??

        • Now, it's possible that I'm completely off track and it's something entirely different since you mention you had spotted that piece of foam when purchasing this printer... because normally the ink pad is not visible without disassembly ....

        You should find a handy friend to explore this printer a bit more


        Can you locate that piece of foam in this photo?

      I have the same problem. I had managed to put it back in place once, but now it's not possible anymore.

    Hello ....

    If I'm not mistaken, this is the waste ink pad of your printer .... which looks a bit like the image below

    However, you need to disassemble the printer to change it after finding one on the Internet, and that might be the most difficult part... or you could find a local Epson repairer, preferably, and ask them for the cost of replacement with the part, which shouldn't be very expensive as it's a pre-cut foam acting as an absorbent pad.

    I suggest you check ► this link where it says that Epson would replace it for free .... but is that still current???

    So the image you're showing me is exactly that, and I think this thing is related to the fact that I have ink stains on my prints!

      Hello and thank you for the feedback ....

      In my opinion, only a "handyman" can venture to disassemble this visible part if that is possible ??

      Have you tried removing all the cartridges and the print head if that is possible to see if accessing this barrette is easier ...

      Have you also tried doing a little cleaning of this barrette with a small brush or something else to eliminate any ink residue ...


      In conclusion, this is more of a hardware problem than anything else, and there’s not much we can do from a distance to help you .. the ideal would be to consult a local craftsman and ask him if he can intervene and at what cost
