Hello,

I just bought an optical adapter (https://www.amazon.fr/AMANKA-Convertisseur-Num%C3%A9rique-Analogique-Adaptateur/dp/B074V56538/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=1QZTACXF2NMQK&keywords=adaptateur+optique&qid=1676380809&sprefix=adaptateur+optique%2Caps%2C515&sr=8-4) to connect my headphones to my TV (a Spart Tech) which doesn't have a headphone jack output, but the sound continues to come from the TV. I checked the settings and it seems that there is nothing to change.
Any advice please?? Thank you

Hello,

This adapter does not mute the TV's sound, which you can do with the volume button or the remote control. It allows you to retrieve an independent headphone output from the digital audio output.

However, if you wanted to mute the TV and do not have a volume adjustment on the adapter, that poses a problem. You need to choose another one, such as those listed on the page of your link.

I don't want to mute the TV but have the sound come out of the headset that I connect to the adapter...

To get sound from the headset, you probably need to activate the digital audio output of the television and also set the correct output format.

That's why I asked for the references of your television (Brand and model).

Hello,

There’s no reason why using the optical to analog converter would mute the television's sound.

Muting the television should be done with its remote control.

Do you have sound in the headphones?

If not, then you need to check the "Sound" or "Audio" menu of the television to enable the optical digital output and to adjust the digital output format.

What are the exact model numbers of this television?

Here's the TV ⬆️

No sound in the headset, that’s my problem. I don’t want to mute the TV, but I want the sound to come through my headset that I’ve plugged into the adapter.

In the "audio" menu, I have "sound output" and there’s only "audio output" with: speaker, ARC, SPDIF only; below there’s digital audio output which is grayed out and set to automatic mode.

SPDIF is the optical digital audio output.

I tried and I only get a loud crackling sound coming from the headset, this crackling changes when the TV should emit sound. There is only crackling on automatic, dolby, and dolby +, otherwise there is no sound and no crackling.

Have the protective caps on the optical cable ends been removed?

Are the male connectors of the optical cable securely inserted into the female sockets of the television and the converter?

Is the converter powered on with the indicator light illuminated?

Do you not have a PCM option for the digital output format?

What provides the image to the television, just the antenna or a decoder or TV box?

If it's an external device like a decoder, what is the brand and model of it?

The protections are removed, they are properly inserted, and the converter is turned on. Neither the antenna nor the decoder, Netflix, Prime Video… are already on it, and that’s all that is being used on it.

And no PCM choice...

Sorry, but I'm out of ideas...

Disconnect the optical cable from the TV converter while it's running; is there light at the end of the optical cable or not?

By the way, what are the headset references?

There's definitely power, I even tried with another cable. I don't think I'll be able to find the references for the headset, but I'll look; I tried with another headset and the same problem, it's crackling????‍????

My question about the headset is simply to know if the headset has a volume adjustment or not?

Does the television offer a volume adjustment on the digital audio output? A volume that is too low during the broadcast could be the source of the issue.

Do you have the ability to test the converter on another device with an optical audio output (PS3, Xbox, Blu-ray player, HD DVD, etc.)?

Finally, I'm curious why there is no output format setting on the television for PCM, because in the link you provided for this converter on Amazon, it states:

"Please set the signal source to PCM format and disable Dolby sound."

I just searched again and there is indeed the PCM format, which I had already tried and that didn’t work, but now it’s good, the sound is coming out of the headphones!! Thank you very much, in the end I just had to set it to SPDIF audio output only and put the digital output on PCM… (which I had already done and that didn’t work, but now it does, strange but well, what matters is that it works now)

Thank you very much for your help
