Hello everyone,I have a problem with my Panasonic HiFi system (SA-AK520) which has an optical output. When I connect an optical cable from a television or from my PS3, I get no sound. Hello In your text, you write my device has "an optical output" if that is really the case it cannot work, your device needs to have an "optical input". Best regards

Thank you for this quick response, indeed it is a connector called "Optical Out," but what is the purpose of an optical output on a Hi-Fi system? I assume it cannot be reversible?

Good evening
I think some manufacturers have included an optical out to record on devices that are hardly used anymore, e.g., MiniDisc recorders.
In your case, if your television has an RCA (analog) sound output, you can use any analog input, such as CD, tuner, tape, etc.

Until now, I was connected via an RCA cable, but I needed the RCA input on my stereo to connect the sound from my computer and therefore free up my only RCA input with an optical cable.
