HP SCAN: HP DeskJet 2600 not found

Solved

Hello,

Until now, my printer has satisfied me, but today, I can't scan; the message: "HP Deskjet not found" appears. If I insist, it says that 'the printer is currently being used for another task... please wait and try again...' Yet, I can still send a document to print, so the computer is indeed connected to the printer! I’m stuck. This bothers me because I often need to use the scanner. The current driver for the printer (which was working fine) is 45MB, and to help me out, 'they' are offering a 135MB driver. What should I do?

Have you ever had this problem? Please let me know how you resolved it. I want to point out that my printer is only 2 years old and is not used daily.

If you have a solution that doesn't require me to download... could you detail the troubleshooting process for me because I'm not very tech-savvy. Thank you in advance,

Edwige

The solution is already built into W10 and W11 (Fax and Scan)

Hp Smart is useless, unstable, and bloated, just like their 130 MB piece of junk

      Too bad

        Hello,

Thank you for this reply that might be useful to me sooner or later. I tried it and it works.

For now, I'm sticking with my "Rube Goldberg machine".

        Thanks again,

    Hello,

Despite my reservations, I had to uninstall the old application and indeed install the 136M driver. I tested it, and although I find the application to react much slower (?) and there are some minor differences on the screen, I can scan, and that is the goal.

I hope it will continue to work well for a long time...

Thank you very much for your responsiveness and your advice.

    Edwige

    Great, I'm happy for you!

You will have two options to use the printer, one through the icon and the other through HP Smart (which allows you to order cartridges).

    I prefer the icon.

Mark it as resolved; the option is behind the "3 dots" in your first message.
