Software issue with ERASER for over 2 months.

Hello, Good evening.
I am experiencing a problem with the software Eraser Version: 6.2.0.2993 (up to date)
I have been using this software for a very long time and I was very satisfied with it.
But for at least 2 months, Eraser Version 6.2.0.2993, with Windows 10 - 64 bits, regularly updated.
Eraser is not functioning well.
When I use it to delete files, it always finishes with 1 error message, even if the files have been deleted?
I uninstalled it properly and reinstalled it, and still the same problem?
I have searched everywhere for solutions and found nothing?
Does anyone have any idea...?
Or could you suggest another free software that has the same functions as "Eraser."
Thank you for your help.

Hello carpadipo,
I have also been using Eraser for years, and this kind of error has happened to me several times.
I still use it from time to time,
but I have switched to AxCrypt 1.7.3156.0
Back to Eraser, I noticed that this kind of error occurred when the folder had a name that was too long or contained special characters ( especially for the files inside as well )
My solution back then was to rename to 0 or 1 ; whether it was folders & files inside
By selecting the files and then renaming just one
I ended up with 0.jpg, 0(1).jpg, 0(2).avi, 0(3).txt, 0(4).pdf and so on...
Also changing the pass method, for example from Us DoD (7 passes - 3 passes) to British HMG 3 passes-
Good evening H0enheim
I tested your solutions, both renaming (0, 1, 2, etc.) and I also changed the settings
Erase settings
Default File erasure method: British HMG IS5 (Enhanced) (3 passes)
Default drive erasure method: British HMG IS5 (Baseline) (1 pass)And there you go, I have no more errors !
Thank you very much, your solution works for me and I appreciate it.
"NB" I will keep the file named AxCrypt linked, just in case.

Hello,
Right-click on the Start button > Run: WINVER
What version do you have, 21H2?
If so, by right-clicking on This PC > Manage... do you have any errors in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Applications
(Right after the Eraser error)
