Google Chrome Display Issue

Solved

Hello,

I’m reaching out because I have a problem with Google Chrome that has been haunting me for years! There is a display bug that makes the text appear like this:

When I switch to incognito mode, it looks like this:

This is mainly related to the Google Chrome interface but it can also happen on certain sites (very few, thankfully!):

What’s very strange is that if I select and copy the gibberish text and paste it into the browser’s search bar for example, the text appears completely legible!

Another fact is that this problem follows me from one computer to another: I just changed my Mac, and for the first few days I was rid of this issue, and after 2/3 days it came back! So it must be related to Google Chrome’s session synchronization...

If you have a solution to resolve this problem, I would be very grateful!

Thank you very much!

Have a nice day.

I just had the same problem. I found the solution. It’s related to the Google Roboto font! I just noticed that this issue appeared for me since I installed it on my computer. Just for the record, it’s the font that Google uses notably on Android. I just removed the font I had installed and the problem instantly disappeared... There’s probably a conflict between the font used by Chrome and the font installed on the system.

See you!

Incredible, I've been looking for weeks.

And it worked thanks to you by disabling the Roboto font.

Thank you

Hello,

Thank you very much for the reply.

Yes, I have already tried clearing all browsing data, uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, and even changed computers and this problem still follows me! :/

tried is not convincing; did or did not?

deleted and reinstalled is useless, these settings are hidden in the Google account and automatically retrieved during sync

and reset and clean chrome??

do you have a hardened password? changed recently??

check also the languages, if it's indeed French from France in the right place

Yes, I have indeed deleted the "browsing data." When I say "attempted," it's just that it wasn't convincing. :/

Yes, I reset Chrome by going to settings > reset settings > Restore settings to their original defaults. It didn't change anything!

It's actually quite complicated to navigate because I still see this in the menu: https://www.zupimages.net/viewer.php?id=22%2F33%2Fdevg.png

No, I don't have a hard password, and I haven't changed any passwords recently.

The language is indeed set to French (France). (https://www.zupimages.net/viewer.php?id=22%2F33%2Fzx9f.png)

You think I'm doomed to endure this display on Chrome?! ^^

Hello,

It could be an infection given the gibberish in the writing.

Especially since you have already uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome.

Help from a Mode/Contrib security could find the cause or ask the question in the Virus/Security forum.

In the meantime, try --► ResetBrowser

And --► AdwCleaner

And --► Malwarebytes
