Unable to print in black on Canon MG5350

Hello,

My printer refuses to print in black. The 2 cartridges (526bk and 525bk) are new and properly recognized by the printer, lights on and visible on the ink level display.

Color printing works. I've done several nozzle cleanings, removed the cartridges and cleaned the cartridge holder, but with no results. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, still no results.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

When do you encounter the problem? When printing from the computer or when making a copy of a document?

So you might think it's a printer-related issue.

Have you printed a test page? It's under:

Settings => Bluetooth & devices => Printers & scanners
Click on the printer's name then Test page

You can also go to Printer properties => Maintenance => Nozzle check

Hello,

Yes, on the test page, the "black" is pale rather gray.

However, I tried printing a screenshot in black and white, the printer works but with poor quality. Strange.

I wonder if this isn't yet another case of that damn planned obsolescence.

I just read an article about EPSON printers that stop printing after a certain number of copies, even though all you need to do is change the ink recovery pad.

Any other ideas???

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It's not an issue with saturated absorbent pads. When that happens, the printer completely stops.

What sometimes causes malfunctions are the compatible cartridges.

I also see that this printer probably came out in 2011. Even if you didn't buy it in 2011, it has probably been in service for quite a few years. So it may simply be at the end of its life (worn print head).
