Unable to place items in the trash

Hello,

I recently emptied my recycle bin, and since then I can't put anything inside it anymore. When I try to place an item in it, a loading message appears, but it never finishes. I don't know what it is or what action I might have taken to make this message appear, but if you have any solutions to get my recycle bin working again, I would be very grateful!!
