Hi, I installed software on my computer to help me fix problems I was having with my mic (DeskFX) and since the installation I have a sound issue, my computer no longer recognizes any devices. So I can't hear anything on my PC and the microphone is not recognized. (I uninstalled DeskFX but it hasn't changed anything :/)
I plugged my headset into another PC and everything works, the problem is with my PC.
Does anyone have a solution so I can detect audio devices again?

Hello,

Try to restore to a restore point that dates back to before the installation.

Press the Windows + R keys

Type RSTRUI

So start RSTRUI and see if you have restore points that date back to before the problem.

But do not use RSTRUI now.

Rather go to Settings > Update & security > Recovery > Advanced startup

To restart and go to the Advanced options > Settings > System Restore

Choose another restore point...

Restoring from there is less likely to cause errors.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I have no restore points: "No restore point has been created on the system drive of your computer."
Do you have another solution?

I don't know what DeskFX is or how it could have damaged Windows.

Nor if manually deleting its drivers would help or harm

You can check if there are any with Autoruns run as an administrator, in the Drivers section

I installed Autoruns, I'm in the drivers section. I don't know much about it. What am I supposed to do?

I installed it on a test machine, and I can't find a driver, false lead.

In the Everything tab (Not Drivers but Everything), check in the Filter box by typing DeskFX to see if you have a DeskFX item.

Otherwise under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID

It adds this key
{0DAEF0E9-D165-4C46-B229-3C587B558026}

You can delete it with Regedit

Then

Create a REG file and execute it or go with Regedit to change the value manually to 00000000 (0) (Just 0 instead of 1) or completely delete the DisableProtectedAudioDG key

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Audio]
"DisableProtectedAudioDG"=dword:00000000



And restart Windows.

On Autorun, I found nothing corresponding to DeskFX in everything.
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID, I didn't have the key you showed.
I modified the "DisableProtectedAudioDG" file and restarted my computer.
But I still have the same problem, unfortunately nothing works.
Do you have any other solutions to suggest?

You had already had issues with your microphone before

It might be a driver issue

You can try:
Touslesdrivers: My Drivers
DriversCloud: Start
And also IOBit Driver Booster, but you need to remove its unnecessary Scheduled Tasks afterwards using Autoruns

The sound from my microphone was just too low, I had read that with DeskFX I could increase it, but instead it completely disappeared along with all my audio devices.
By the way, when I try to go into my sound settings, the window closes completely until after the launch. Maybe that can give you a clue?

The driver can still be problematic, it wouldn't hurt.

Use the command prompt as admin to run chkdsk /f c:

And an sfc /scannow

Otherwise, we could reinstall Windows.

When I enter the first command, the cmd indicates this:
The file system type is NTFS.
Unable to lock the current drive.

CHKDSK cannot run because the volume is in use
by another process. Do you want this volume to be
checked at the next system restart? (Y/N)
I am currently performing the system analysis using the second command.
I'll keep you updated. :)

The second command indicated this:

With chkdsk, you have to respond with 'y' and restart.

Otherwise the drivers, otherwise I don't see anything more obvious than reinstalling Windows.

If you want to back up your data, favorites, browser profile, etc. beforehand...

If you already have the Windows ISO file that you can download from the tool, you can create your USB drive with Rufus

If the PC is old, you need to create the drive in MBR mode

If it is recent (Windows 8 or higher) in GPT mode > For Windows 11 GPT for EFI

Boot from it using the PC's Boot Menu

Choose "Custom installation" (Not upgrade)

No need to format if there is space, if there is data, it will be in a Windows.old folder
