Error 0x80240034 Windows 10 Update Solved

Question

Hello everyone I have acquired an HP G732 Notebook PC, 64-bit, 6 GB of RAM, Windows 10 version 1803 (end of support November 2019), activated using a digital license. Initially, this HP PC had a pre-installed Windows 7 Home. I cannot perform the updates to version 20H2 (error 0x80240034), nor can I reinstall while keeping personal files or removing them. I have tried several procedures found on the internet. (For example: Deleting the SoftwareDistribution directory, resetting Windows updates, Refreshing Windows using Windows Defender.). Antivirus updates are working, and I managed to update Edge. The updates get stuck at around 30% of the installation, and then it rolls back, returning to version 1803. I'm out of ideas for this problem.  Configuration: Windows / Firefox 98.0  -- Regards Gdbbvlf

Hi,  when I hit a snag, I go through WSUS Offline:  https://gitlab.com/wsusoffline/wsusoffline/-/releases  It allows you to install a lot of updates without being bothered by stupid messages.  However, since you're on 1803, you'll need to take an older version of WSUS Offline (12.4, which is the last one that supports 1803).  Then, you can try (I say try...) an automatic upgrade to go to 21H2 (the latest version).  -- See you, blux  "Fools will try anything.That's how you can recognize them."

re  do this:  PS: since the laptop is portable, plug it into the power supply  1) close all your running programs  2) download the W10 update tool to your desktop --> click here  3) run it as an administrator (right click), and follow the prompts during the update  let me know how it goes  @+  -- the radiation level is higher at the employment office than at Chernobyl

re  the update utility didn't work?  did you get an error message, or something else?  check this page for WSUS --> click here  PS: given the update issues, test your hard drive with Crystaldiskinfo --> click here  give the health status and the temperature  @+

Hello Bilmaxime The system disk is fine, when I run wsus offline update, I get this image I suppose I need to check the box for 1803 of Windows 10 x64 versions and uncheck the others. This image does not appear in the tutorial

Hi  I got an HP G732 Notebook PC, 64 bits  I assume you don't have anything to recover from the PC?  If that's the case, personally I would do a "clean install" (to start fresh) on the PC  Let me know what you think  @+  -- the radiation level is higher at the unemployment office than at Chernobyl

re  yes a family version and a startup key and a valid activation key, I will go through this solution   ok, but it's the license key that determines the version of W10 (Home/Pro)  but I would like to understand why the windows 10 updates do not run on this HP PC   I did 1 search on the error code, and I find it "vague" --> click here  PS: if you do a "clean install" of W10, I think you won't have any issues  @+  -- the radiation level is higher at the employment office than at Chernobyl

Hello  do this:  1) plug the PC into the power supply  2) close all your running programs  3) in search, type CMD and click on "run as administrator"  4) in the command prompt, type/copy-paste sfc /scannow and hit Enter  WARNING: there is 1 space between sfc and /  at the end of the scan, check if it has/has not found/fixed any system files  PS: at the end of the scan if there is no "integrity violation", do this:  1) in search, type CMD and click on "run as administrator"  2) in the command prompt, type/copy-paste --> Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and hit Enter  3) restart the PC and see what happens  @+  -- the radiation level is higher at the job center than at Chernobyl
