Processor that constantly changes temperature

Hello
since I changed the thermal paste, my temperatures change when I play. When I’m on the same game
I go from 95 to 65, then it goes to 80, 72. Why do the temperatures fluctuate constantly? Is it serious? THANK YOU for your help.

Hello,
as long as it doesn't affect game performance, it's not too serious.

Does it not stabilize at a certain temperature?

Is it a desktop or a laptop?

Hello and THANK YOU, no it does not stabilize at a temperature; it goes from 80 to 65, 90, 60, 80, 70, it’s always like this. I have a desktop PC. Why does it do this? Sometimes the game stutters. What should I do please?

Look in the BIOS or via the manufacturer's utility for the motherboard to set the fans to maximum when it reaches 70°C

Maybe you didn't apply enough thermal paste, set the power option to high performance in Windows.

It’s at the computer startup, usually Escape, F2, F10, or F12, depending on the motherboard.

What’s your motherboard and processor?

Do you have temperature issues even when at rest?

The temperatures are really good.
I'll write another response below to avoid mixing everything up.

Hello,
Here’s a tutorial that explains well how to replace thermal paste:
https://fr.ifixit.com/Tutoriel/Comment+appliquer+de+la+pâte+thermique/744

It seems to me that if you applied the equivalent of a pea, that’s way too much: maybe you should redo the operation to properly follow the tutorial's recommendations, especially regarding cleaning and drying. Knowing your processor, also look for recommendations on how to apply thermal paste (in a cross, as a small dot, ...)

Hello and THANK YOU, I have restarted putting the dough (in a cross shape, grain of rice, in the middle, spread on the processor) 5 times. (apparently spreading it causes air bubbles) why such a big difference in temperature? THANK YOU for your help.

download OCCT : https://www.ocbase.com/download/edition:Personal

run a CPU test and check the temperature to see if it fluctuates or stabilizes, and also check if the processor frequency (core 0 frequency tab) is stable and at what level

Hello
and THANK YOU for taking a bit of your time to help me.
I made two little videos but I can't send them to you, how can I do it please?

You can upload them to YouTube if you have a Google account and provide the links. Otherwise... maybe Facebook.

Well, nothing alarming, the temperature remains stable at 83°C, which is a bit high, but still acceptable considering that under normal usage the CPU is never at 100% all the time, and there is no frequency drop for the CPU, so no issues to report on that side.

Can you do the same test on the graphics card? (the GTX 1050 Ti tab, then)

And run this benchmark test: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Software
(provide the link to the test result)

is your screen properly connected to the graphics card (horizontal ports) and not to the motherboard (vertical ports)?

because the benchmark tested the igpu (the processor’s graphics chipset) and not the graphics card, so that suggests that the screen is not connected in the right place. as a result, the graphics card is not being used at all, and the use of the processor's graphics part contributes to increasing its temperature.

once again, a big apology, I didn't see that it was poorly connected. (I'm really useless)

The graphics card is slightly below average (just a little, 30.4% compared to an average of 30.8%), but it's still good; you shouldn't normally have any issues playing.

Probably a motherboard issue. However, changing the motherboard for a PC like this is not straightforward; they are generally not in standard formats and finding the same one is not particularly easy, hoping that the new one won't cause any problems either.

yes it's possible

to straighten the pines is quite complicated because they are very fragile and very small: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEhXwfPScxU

I don't know if the temperature always jumps to 95°C and then drops immediately to 65, I can't tell you more than what I've already said.

That's why I also said to test with an i3 or i5 because they heat less.

I can hardly find any information about your thermal paste.

Overall, it's the processor that overheats. A faulty component can overheat, but if that were the case, the PC wouldn't start.

I can always find the socket diagram. I don't see well which pin is damaged; is it towards the bottom left in your image? If so, it's indeed related to the RAM.

If it's where you put the red dot, normally this pin isn't an issue; it's a power pin, but it's duplicated, so it's not a problem.

What does your case look like?

I can't find this motherboard or an equivalent; it's a bit too new for there to be any used ones.

Another solution is to buy a regular motherboard and a regular case (around €100-130).
The cases from manufacturers (HP, Dell, etc.) are generally not in standard formats. For example, your motherboard has connectors both in the front and the back, which do not exist on a standard motherboard.

Is it possible to get a refund for the processor you bought as well? Where do you live? (without being too specific ^^)

Hello
after a few days my processor is starting to overheat while I play. Can someone tell me what's happening with my computer, is the processor broken? The motherboard? I took it to a repairman who didn't understand anything. He doesn't see what's going on. Please help me. THANK YOU for your help.

jumulka Posted messages 12090 Registration date   Status Membre Last intervention   4 619

There may be a temperature probe issue. Is it rising to 95°C?
Is it causing you performance problems as a result?
Do you know what the repairman tested?

Try to disable the turbo boost of the processor in the BIOS if you can.

Hello and a big THANK YOU. I think the technician did not test anything. They don't have the equipment or the skills here. He simply told me that he didn't understand, and that’s it. How should I disable the processor's turbo boost, please? I'm sorry to bother you; you are the only one who can help me. Again, a big THANK YOU.

You need to enter the BIOS, go to the configuration tab, and see if there is a turbo boost option (or maybe just turbo or boost); also check in device options.

According to what is in the manual on the HP site, there is no such option, but manuals are not always comprehensive.

Hello
I don't have turbo boost. And the manual is in English, I don't understand English. What should I do, please? Where can I find these sensors and what do they look like? THANK YOU for your help.

jumulka Posted messages 12090 Registration date   Status Membre Last intervention   4 619

It's a sensor integrated into the CPU, you won't find it. You can try changing the processor to see if you have the same problem; given the graphics card, even with an i3 you should have almost the same performance, or otherwise an i5.
In the manual list (page 6), it states that the card supports the 9th generation, which are more powerful and cheaper than the 8th, and also easier to find, but I can't guarantee 100% that a 9th gen processor will work, normally it should (at worst you can always return the processor if it doesn't work) > > http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06520280.pdf

Hello
and a big THANK YOU. I have an i3 processor, if I install it, will I be able to see if it's overheating? The problem is if I buy a new processor, it will never be refunded. It doesn't exist here. We can't know if it's the processor or the motherboard that's messed up? THANK YOU for your help.

jumulka Posted messages 12090 Registration date   Status Membre Last intervention   4 619

it depends on the i3, for your computer it’s i3-8100 or i3-9100

Hello
I don't have an i3-800, I would like to know how this happened? The computer is only 1 year old. It only overheats when I play a game; if I watch a video or a movie, it doesn't overheat, it stays at 24-26 degrees. THANK YOU for your help.

jumulka Posted messages 12090 Registration date   Status Membre Last intervention   4 619

It's normal for the computer not to heat up when it is not or little used.

If it's only 1 year old, you can try to check with customer service, although I don't know if opening the case voids the warranty.

no need to remove it from the motherboard.
it's not impossible for updates but for the current updates, I don't believe so.
