Hello, I currently have an Intel® Pentium® Processor P6100
(3M Cache, 2.00 GHz) and I would like to switch to an i5 or an i3 (I am using a Vaio laptop)

Is it possible, and if so, which CPU should I choose that would be compatible with my socket?

Hello!
As a mobile gamer,
I can assure you that it's better to change your PC than to modify it,
because that's very expensive and not aesthetically pleasing!
Unless you have a lot of money :-D

Best regards,
ALuffy.

Re!
Trust me, this is delicate and unnecessary, I damaged a gaming laptop because of this, they are designed to run specific hardware.

Best regards;
ALuffy.

Okay, but I'm not sure I have enough money to buy a gaming laptop because I have very little money, but thanks.

Hello,

there are strict conditions to change a CPU on a laptop:

1) you need to have a CPU mounted on a socket: some are soldered to the motherboard...

2) then choose a CPU with the same socket:
of course, right, otherwise it won't fit! your P6100 is in socket PGA988:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/fr/fr/ark/products/50175/intel-pentium-processor-p6100-3m-cache-2-00-ghz.html

already you can't find new CPUs in socket PGA 988 anymore, but there's the second-hand market, and then there's no guarantee they are compatible with the motherboard (BIOS issues or something else)

So it's really not easy, unless you run into someone who has already done the operation

For example, you can read here:
