CANON MF4010 printer issue on Windows 10

Hello,

After a hard drive failure issue, replaced today, my printer no longer works on Windows 10. It appears in the device manager as well as in devices and printers where it shows up by default. When I try to print, it stays in the queue. Even clearing the queue doesn't solve the problem.
In the properties of the Canon MF 4010 series, it appears in location as: on the root print queue
I really need help, happy holidays to you all in advance!

re

why should I do that?

to start with a healthy installation of your printer

after that, it's up to you

Hello

PS: please take the time to read my message in its entirety and answer my questions

let's start over :)

After an issue with a faulty hard drive, replaced today

yes, I changed my hard drive with another one and the same version of Windows 10 on it

where did the HDD/SSD come from?

were the printer drivers not installed on this disk?

I correctly followed your instructions by uninstalling everything, I did attempt to install your driver but it did not install

was the USB cable unplugged when you proceeded to install the driver?

do you have another antivirus besides Windows Defender on the PC?

did you receive an error message during the driver installation?

does the PC work properly after the hard drive change?

have you noticed any slowdowns, non-functionality of programs, etc.?

in case you think the PC has issues, do this:

to see what’s running on your PC, do this and post the reports

download FRST from (Fabar) to your desktop --> click here

PS: take the one corresponding to your PC (32 or 64 bits) -> click here

run it as administrator (right-click)

at the end of the scan, the FRST and ADDITION reports will appear on your desktop and in C:\FRST\LOG

post the reports via cjoint --> click here

if you have any questions...

Good evening and thank you very much.
I started everything over as you advised.
The printer... PRINTS but I won't hesitate to come back to you for my PC because I think it will still have some issues... not yet... but a little yellow triangle next to its image tells me that I will soon need you again... PS I didn't find where to put the best answer.

Hello, yes I changed my hard drive with another one and the same version of Windows 10 on it, the driver has already been downloaded from the indicated address and in the device manager, after updating it, I am told that the best driver is indeed installed.

Are the printer functions accessible locally via the printer buttons?

How is the printer connected? Wi-Fi or USB? What did you choose during installation?

Is the Wi-Fi light on?

Good evening,
Is the spooler service in Windows active?
How can I access it?
Right-click on Start, the taskbar at the bottom left, select Computer Management, in the next window, on the left pane, expand the Services and Applications section, select Services and search for Spooler.
It should appear as follows:

See you later, have a great end of the year both of you.

The printer works via USB. Yes, the spooler is active, running, automatic... exactly as you indicated.

Hello,
Is the wifi turned on the printer?
I am not familiar with this machine, but usually, according to the manual, there should be a procedure to follow to enable the wifi.
Best regards.
Happy New Year 2022.

Hello, Happy New Year to you too!
There is no wifi on this printer, which is old but worked very well.
I managed to print a test page, so there has been progress; the machine is well controlled. However, now when I try to print a document, a window opens to "save the print as" here in documents, even though in the "print dialog box" the "print to file" checkbox is not checked.

Hello

The machine is well ordered, however now, when I try to print a document, a window opens to "save the print as"

In the control panel --> devices and printers

Check if the printer is selected as default (the green check)

See you later

after changing the hard drive, didn't you uninstall the printer before reinstalling it?

Well, unfortunately, it passed away before I could do it, otherwise I wouldn't be here bothering you, but the driver was retrieved from the Canon site and installed properly.

why should I do that?
it's a multifunction printer, it works as both a printer and a scanner.
Right now, I can scan.
When I print a document, a window opens to "save the print as" here in documents, yet in the "print window," the "print to file" box is not checked; I would like it to print.

Hello laluciole_41,
In my opinion, billmaxime, whom I greet and wish a great year, is right to advise you to restart the installation from scratch.
I suggest, but you decide, to disconnect your printer from the PC, unplug the USB cable, uninstall everything related to the printer from the computer; there must not be a single trace left, IMPÉRATIF.
Restart the computer and then install the following driver, Canon-i-SENSYS-MF4010-MF-Drivers-for-Windows-64-bit.exe; during this process, you will be asked to connect the printer via USB, do it at that moment (not before) and continue until the end of the operation.
Test the printer afterwards...
Best regards;

Hello,
It's not essential, if you just follow link 17, HERE, the printer should normally work, the driver provided is the one that corresponds to your machine.

Good evening, I have followed your instructions by uninstalling everything, I have tried to install your driver which did not install, there must also be a signature problem and therefore I need to go through the start menu troubleshooting / advanced options... as I had to do to install the other driver that I provided you with earlier.

glg29 Posted messages 29751 Registration date   Status Contributeur Last intervention   4 581

Hello,
The driver is from the printer's brand and is directly related to it; there may be a signature issue, but it's probably the operating system that is to blame. This does not change the recognition of the driver.
It's surprising that it requires troubleshooting, advanced options, and more to install a printer driver!!!
Are you sure you don’t have any other issues with your PC? Is everything clear on that front?
Best regards.

He didn't understand that a hard drive containing an OS was not transferable from one PC to another.

Hello Redbart,
I'm not sure that is what "he or she" did or tried to do!
If that's really the case, it's definitely less effective that way!
Best regards
