Processor performance issues

Hello,
I recently ran benchmarks with 3DMark and I noticed that my processor has a score clearly below compared to the benchmarks of others, while my graphics card is well within average.
So here is one of the benchmarks I did: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/23957919

I do indeed have performance issues in Satisfactory for example, but I thought that was due to the game being poorly optimized or the multiplayer aspect. And I feel like my PC is overall performing worse compared to game benchmarks I've seen online against the performance I'm experiencing.

I don’t really see where the problem could be coming from, except for the fact that I had a CPU frequency issue some time ago but I managed to partially resolve it.

My setup:
- motherboard: MSI B550 A PRO
- processor: Ryzen 5 3600
- graphics card: Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 Ti
- 2x8 GB of RAM at 3600Mhz

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hello

I don't see anything abnormal, you are above a Ryzen 7 3700X....

I just checked the benchmarks performed on 3DMark with a Ryzen 7 3700X and the scores are all above 9000 on average, with many reaching 10000. My CPU is at a score of 5000 at best, so I don't really see what you're talking about.

Hello,

Your score is pretty good, if everything is fine in single-player games, after the multiplayer games it could be the servers or the connection causing problems or badly optimized games.

You have a score of 9842, which is very good; I have a Ryzen 7 2700X and a GTX 1070 and I have a score of 8451, but I don't have a powerful graphics card either. And I have no problems, my games are smooth, except in multiplayer games like Apex Legends where there are lags, stuttering, and slowdowns; it's the game and the servers causing the issues, not my machine.

It might also depend on the components of other PCs; if the CPU and graphics card are overclocked, it totally changes the score, it's not the same anymore.

I clearly agree that the overall score is good, but it's especially the CPU score that troubles me.
Another example I thought of is when I played Team Fortress 2, which is very poorly optimized and relies heavily on the CPU; I experienced significant fps drops quite often. A similar problem occurred with Saints Row 3 Remastered, where my game couldn't exceed 30-40 fps and I also had significant fps drops.
After all, I don’t have issues with The Witcher 3, for example, but when comparing benchmarks I’ve seen on YouTube, my fps are still significantly lower, even though the game remains smooth, while the PC components are the same and the CPU/GPU frequencies are similar.

Yes, I quite agree. With all your information, I had indeed read your CPU score incorrectly.
It is low. I saw a 3D Mark score from someone else; their CPU score is better: CPU score > 7294 > GPU > 11540 > overall > 10613.

So why does your CPU have such a low score? I honestly don't know. Is there a possible problem with your CPU? Even my processor doesn't have Turbo Boost enabled or overclocked, and yet I stabilize it at 4 GHz instead of 4.3 GHz so that it heats less, and I get a good score.

Maybe update your BIOS or reset it; it could be a problem or a wrong setting. It's possible to check Windows settings, the power plan in Windows, etc. ... In the Nvidia control panel, there are settings to adjust, perhaps to optimize games—there are plenty of tutorials on the net and YouTube.

For the BIOS, I had already tried to update and reset it 1 or 2 months ago, but I think I will try again.
For the power options, I'm by default on "AMD Ryzen Balanced" and I've seen online that it's supposed to be more efficient than the basic options and also better optimized, and since this mode resets automatically after each startup, I didn't dwell on it too much and left it as is, but I will still try to test other modes.
And for the Nvidia control panel, I watched some videos not long ago and I set the recommended settings, so I don't think I need to change anything there.
Anyway, thanks for your response and your advice.

Well, this was just in case for the BIOS, if you updated it and reset it, unless you made bad settings, just reset it again. The AMD Ryzen Balanced power plan has mixed reviews; personally, I had some performance issues with it, so I switched to the > Optimal Performance mode, which offers more power, and this mode is hidden; you need to enable it via > command prompt, you can test it, and if it doesn't suit you, you can revert to the AMD plan.

How to activate Optimal Performance Mode in Windows 10:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/informatique/windows/1105-activer-le-mode-performances-optimales-de-windows-10/

And I advise you, in the power plan > in advanced power settings > advanced power manager > minimum processor state > it is at 100%; if your processor needs to lower its frequency for some reason, you might have problems because it runs at full capacity all the time. I recommend setting it to 5/10%, but it's not mandatory; it's up to you to see and test.

In Windows 10, if you have Windows 10, make sure to disable the Xbox game bar, especially the game mode; this will help avoid problems already. At Windows startup, disable all the software that isn’t useful to you; if you have made all the settings in Nvidia, don't touch them. In games, even in Nvidia, disable V-Sync; because if it’s enabled, it will sync with your monitor, and if you have a 60 Hz monitor, you’ll be stuck at 60 fps and will experience input lag. V-Sync must be absolutely disabled in games to increase your fps.

In the task manager, check if you don't have software processes running in the background that are taking CPU and RAM resources for no reason; if so, close them and see if during the fps drops your CPU isn't at 100%, which would explain the fps drops.

Thank you for your advice, I changed the power management setting to optimal mode, I don't really see any difference for now, but I'll see if it changes anything. I also disabled the Xbox game bar and I'll keep an eye on vertical sync.
I'll check CPU usage while gaming with the task manager, but normally I don't have any other programs running in the background.

Hello,
run a userbench test to see what it says: https://www.userbenchmark.com/Software

I did 2 tests, one with my processor at 3600MHz, and the other at 4200MHz:

abnormal CPU usage by a third-party application, check in the task manager

I performed a benchmark with the task manager open, and apart from WMI Provider Host and my antivirus, which briefly spiked to 10% CPU usage for 1 second each, I didn't see anything unusual.

I did some benchmarks and looked a bit online, but I can't really find out why the benchmark isn't working for the GPU and the SSD; however, I have the following error in the list of actions performed by the benchmark:
ERROR: Plane GPU benchmark failed, aborting further tests on this GPU

In games where it lags, what is the CPU usage? In the task manager, performance tab.
If possible, post screenshots

And remove the AMD process management software...

I tested what you told me on Satisfactory and on Saints Row 3 Remastered, and here's what I got:
For Satisfactory:

For Saints Row 3 Remastered:

So overall I don't see anything unusual, knowing that in Satisfactory I'm at about 100 fps constant with occasional freezes, especially when there are a lot of things on screen, but that's logical. However, my game sometimes drops to 30-40 fps for a few seconds, and on Saints Row, I was stuck between 30 and 40 fps, with drops below 20 fps.
And I also completely uninstalled Dragon Center because of that.

The CPU usage rate is low, I don't think your issues come from the processor...
Do you have an official version of Windows?
What is your system drive, an NVMe?

For Windows, I have an official version yes, just a small difference that could be noted is that I have Windows Professional but well, I don't think it changes much (and I do have Windows activated by the way).
And my system is indeed on a 500GB NVMe.

I ran another test with Satisfactory (in a place with more things on the screen) and the task manager in the background, and I got this:

And indeed, something strange that I don't understand is that my first logical processor is always very used compared to the others, even when not in-game.

I found this topic, and the problem is similar; it's not the same processor, but the issue is alike.

One of the cores of my processor is running at full speed even at rest:
https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-31622808-un-des-coeurs-de-mon-processeur-tourne-a-fond-meme-au-repos

Look, I hope this can help you.
Apparently, the person reinstalled their system, so Windows 10 because they must have left their old Windows without formatting, and that caused problems if I understood correctly, but I’m not sure.
