Hello, I have about 7 fans in my case including the big Zalman CNPS9700 LED for my processor, but guess what temperature my processor is running at??!! At 60 degrees!!
I should clarify that my AMD 64x2 5200+ is not overclocked or anything else!!
I should also mention that some software says one core is at -6°C and the other at 13°C (Core Temp, HW Monitor...) but the one that came with my motherboard (Abit EQ) tells me 60°C for the CPU... it's hard to understand...
If someone could help me, I would be very grateful because if my processor is really running at this temperature, I have something to worry about^^

Thanks in advance A+++
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

60 degrees at idle isn't dramatic but way too high for a 5200 non-OC.

1) Make sure your Zalman is properly mounted
2) Change the thermal paste.
3) Check your BIOS just in case it's a Windows issue.
4) Verify that your sensors are working correctly and are placed in the right spots (with multiple sensors, people take the temperature of one area for another, like SVGA for example).

You’re worried about temperatures you’re not even sure of, so if none of this helps, the only way to be certain of the results is to test on another motherboard.

I installed the Zalman this afternoon because until now I was using the stock cooler (completely useless!!) and I was reaching the same temperatures. Similarly, the thermal paste is brand new and I don’t think I applied it too badly^^
In my BIOS?? What exactly should I look for in my BIOS?! Sorry but I'm not very knowledgeable in this area either^^
How could I check that my sensors are working properly??! (I don't even know what they look like^^ Plus they are original on the motherboard so I don't think they have moved^^) Oh yes, indeed testing on another motherboard would be ideal!! Thanks for the advice, I'll do it as soon as I can ;)

If you have the same temperatures between the original fan and this model, then you have an installation issue because the temperature drop is significant with this model (I use it and recommend it to my clients for much larger CPUs with air cooling). Often the one provided is too dry and does not apply evenly: use ceramic thermal paste instead: simple but effective.

Depending on the motherboard: delete, F2, ... it's displayed on the startup page. There is a section called hardware monitoring that allows you to see the temperature of your CPU directly thanks to the motherboard's sensor: this is often the most reliable temperature.

If you are not using additional sensors (case, fan controller, ..) then forget this part.

Yes, I know it should be important, but I don't see where the problem could be... I have cleaned my processor well, I applied the thermal paste very easily since it's the zm-stg1 (with a brush) on the processor and on the heat sink, then I fixed it! I don't see where the issue could come from!! No, I don't have an additional probe, but I will check in the BIOS at startup then.
