Hello,
here is my problem: I have a work computer on which I have a Google account. A folder on the hard drive of this computer is synced with Google Drive.

At home, I have another computer and I access my Google Drive without any issues. But I also want to be able to sync this Google Drive to a local folder on the hard drive of this second computer (in case of internet disconnection, for example). But I can't find how to do it; reading here and there I saw that OneDrive could do that, but mine is necessarily Google Drive...

Finally, another question, sometimes I move around and use other work computers provided to me, I would like to have a USB drive that would also be synced to this same drive when I plug it into either of my two computers, so I can have my files available (read-only) without needing to log in to my account when I move around.

I hope I have been clear, and that someone knows how to do this. A big thank you in advance

Steph (of course all my computers are running W10)

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 94.0.4606.61

Hello.
Google Drive (owned by Google) is not One Drive (owned by Microsoft).
There are hardly any differences in usage between Google Drive and One Drive.
.
If you are using the latest version of Google Drive that was launched a few months ago and not Backup and Sync from Google, this latest version creates a virtual drive on your HDD which is nothing more than a new folder (or directory on your HDD) that has been assigned a HDD letter which can be changed in the settings of Google Drive. Inside this folder, there are all the documents stored in Google Drive that can be accessed offline.
.
So if you are using this latest version, your issues should not exist. If not, download the latest version of Google Drive and transfer your data.
.
For your USB drive, it's up to you to make the copies or use a free backup software like Syncback free because it is not possible to directly sync a USB drive or external HDD with Google Drive.

Thank you for your response; I didn't realize that the folder created on my personal computer contained local versions of my documents; I thought it was just links to the drive.

So I still have some questions if I can impose a bit:

Is it true that the sync occurs among 3: drive-work-home, and it doesn't matter which of the 3 is used to modify the documents, the other 2 will receive this modification when it happens (provided, of course, that they are online).

Is it possible to have a USB key that synchronizes automatically when inserted into one of the 2 work-home computers? If so, how? And still, if that's possible, does the sync then happen among 4 key-drive-work-home, and therefore if I modify a document on my key, when I insert it into a synchronized computer, does the drive and the 2 computers receive this modification?

Thanks again if someone can provide information.

Hmm, you have a twisted mind.
The synchronization between Google Drive and one or more computers occurs as soon as there is a modification or addition of files, as long as the machines are running, connected to the internet, and linked to the Google Drive account. Of course, this synchronization is not necessarily instantaneous; it takes some time to detect the changes.
.
A USB key that syncs automatically by itself?
I’m wary of automation in computing, so I don’t recommend doing it this way as it often generates errors, but hey, you are free to do whatever you want with your data.
It is possible; there are synchronization software available.
.
Moreover, why use a USB key when you have cloud storage?

twisted mind.... hmm probably.

for the USB key, I sometimes find myself borrowing computers from colleagues to work. I need my documents and I don't necessarily want or have the option to log into my account, especially since the computers in question are already logged into another account. If Google Drive could have done that by itself, it would have been perfect, but if an additional software is needed, then I'll do it manually and that will be just fine.

Anyway, thank you for your answers.
