Hello, I have a laptop and the network card is dead. Is it possible to take a USB key, plug it in, and do something to make it provide Wi-Fi to my PC?

Thank you in advance ????

Hello,

Buy a WiFi key, you can find one with an RTL8812BU chipset in stores or online.

Hello,

Based on what you've stated, I would be inclined to ask how you know that the wifi network card is dead.

But let's forget about that "detail."

Under no circumstances and by no manipulation (we used to refer to it as the operation of the Holy Spirit) can a USB key serve as a wifi adapter.

A USB key is a data or program storage unit and is only meant for that.

A wifi adapter, sometimes (incorrectly) referred to as a wifi key, is a transmitter-receiver, with no storage capability (except for hybrid products I've never seen) and often physically resembles a USB storage key.

The performance of wifi (range, speed) corresponds to different evolutions of the standard.

However, there are external wifi adapters that plug into a USB port and replace the internal card.

The first electronics store or department will offer you a brand.

You need to ensure that the adapter mentions compatibility with your version of Windows, otherwise, you may have to change it. You can find them for around ten or twenty euros.

Needless to say, you need a box or a wifi router to access the internet (if that's the goal).
