Hello,

I would like to be able to prevent modification, deletion, and copying of a file on a USB drive.

The file should be read-only only (if possible, without a password).

I tried doing this via permissions, but on a USB drive I don’t see that Security tab.

The goal is for the drive to be usable for remaining capacity, but that commercial files on it cannot be modified, deleted, or copied.

Ideally, this should apply to everyone equally (from administrator to personal account).

Is it possible to do this? And make it irreversible to prevent fraud?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Damien.

    Hello,

There are special USB keys for that... they have to be bought from manufacturers...

They are formatted in particular ways... The top part behaves like a pressed CD for life and non-modifiable... The bottom part is a normal USB key... The size is imposed by the manufacturer.

It is used, for example, by funeral homes, the national education system, Renault, etc..

Here is an overview of the topic.
