I’m trying in vain in Word to create numbers that I can color with a texture, like a digital flocking for football numbers with patterns inside… I managed to insert my background inside the zero using Word shapes, but drawing the number 1 is impossible to “fill.” I know it’s not clear, but I can’t explain it any better, sorry.

Hello.
For me, it's clear; and the answer is NO, it is not possible to "fill" a character typed on the keyboard.
You must absolutely draw the character, either with drawing software, or by using INSERTION/Shapes/ option Freehand drawing or Freeform.
