Good evening,
Since Firefox updated, I can no longer perform a search in the main search bar (the one in the middle of the page, below the Firefox logo) when I open a new tab.
When I type, my text is immediately written in the address bar (at the top) instead of the main search bar...
Could you please help me?
Thank you,
Best regards

I provided the solution and the procedure to follow in this post
Info: New tab search
When opening a new tab, when you type a word in the search bar, the focus is immediately redirected to the address bar.
To see the search only in the search box, you need to modify it using the configuration editor.
The procedure:
Clear everything in the address bar (URL)
Copy/paste
about:config
Then press the Enter key, or right-click and paste and open.
Accept the risk and continue.
In the search box, type the preference name -► awesomebar
Double-click on the line -►browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar
This will change the value to -►false
Now the search is properly displayed in the search field and not in the address bar.
See you later

Not a big deal if you didn't see my post from the day before.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
@Fabul (whom I greet in passing)
I’m searching and haven't yet found a suitable code for the Userchrome file to place the tabs under the address bar of Firefox (Firefox 89).
I'm on an English-speaking trail (and I've done quite a few inconclusive tests for now), because the Proton interface of Firefox 89 is messing up the way to modify the userchrome, just like with almost every new version.
Except that in this unprecedented version, Proton is giving a hard time.
Catch you later
