Hello, recently, when I use my 4G, especially for tethering, I’ve noticed some network instabilities.
I’ve also noticed that my IP address is geolocated in Tours while I live in Bordeaux, whereas previously I was located a few kilometers around my position. Could this have something to do with the instabilities I am experiencing?
Thank you in advance, best regards.

Hi there,
for stability, a mobile network has two significant drawbacks:
1/ it is a radio network, so it is subject to all kinds of disturbances; if you listen to FM, you know what that means.
2/ it is a shared network among hundreds of users who use it more or less and their number varies in a specific location.
Moreover, you are supposed to be moving as well, since it is a mobile network, and the operator can shut down a tower, so your mobile will then switch to another frequency or another tower.
As for the geolocation of the IP address, there’s no point in looking it up with a mobile operator, nor with the others for that matter.
Mobile operators connect you to the internet via proxy servers and a CGN, which means it’s the IP address of their servers that you see, not that of your mobile.
Already the geolocation information by IP is not reliable, because each ISP says whatever they want, and they can also change servers whenever they want.
The only valid geolocation is that of your GPS built into the mobile.
