Hello, my equipment: Prixma 3600 with scanner including My Image Garden.
After scanning the document, the "My Image Garden" page appears but remains stuck on the screen, and I have to restart my computer to use it for other purposes. Annoying
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 88.0.4324.104

Hello,
While you are in Settings, check which folder the Scans are saved to (likely Documents).
Now when you scan, My Image Garden will not open anymore. You will go directly to Documents to retrieve the file.

What is well conceived is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.
(Boileau)
- In the Start menu, go to Canon Utilities > IJ Scan Utility
- In the small window that opens, click on Settings.
- In the first tab, Auto Scan, check Do not start any application
- Do the same for all items in the left column: Photo Scan, etc.

While you are in Settings, check which folder the Scans are saved to (likely Documents).
- Close the window by clicking OK at the bottom right.
- Close IJ Scan Utility
Now when you scan, My Image Garden will not open anymore. You will go directly to Documents to retrieve the file.

Hello Pierr, I have two left hands and I managed to follow your instructions, so a big shout out to you because I was able to scan and send my files on time. However, the page stuck on My Image Garden is still frozen, and I can neither close it nor do anything with it since a ;;beep;; makes me understand that I have something to do to get out of this state, but nothing is doable????!!!! So if your solution is rock-solid for continuing to scan without My Image Garden, that’s fine, but if we ever want to be able to return to the original state, meaning scanning via My Image Garden, what should we do?? I admit that I tried to turn off the printer, but it's impossible to close the window or even go through the taskbar, it beeps, and it's extremely frustrating because we can neither close it nor use it while I have all my scans stored in it since the printer was set up. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is restarting the computer, and hopefully that will close the ongoing task that has bugged?? From the printer, no error messages, nor on the computer, just this frozen My Image Garden window that is scary because it remains wide open in the middle of the screen, and what if it never wants to close again?? It's impossible to think of closing the printer's software to reconfigure it; I’m not confident enough to do that, already very surprised that I managed to do what you explained here, and I found the scan settings purely by chance because when you write to go to the settings, someone as clueless as me immediately thinks ''ouch!! which settings? Windows? Bing? Canon?'' and no, it’s just the scanner settings that we find in the printer app which I had never used since I was going through My Image Garden, and when I understand something, it takes a catastrophe to make me deviate from it. Anyway, the disaster has happened, my window is frozen, but I would like to regain the scanning functionality via this app, so I imagine I will need to do the reverse operation, but that cursed frozen window needs to close before that or it’s back to the same problem... If you have another trick to get the app out of its trance, you would be a true magician and savior for me, and many other clueless people like me, I suppose. A big thank you to you and to everyone who takes a few minutes of their precious time to help clumsy people like me who often need a little push, a clear and detailed step-by-step explanation like in kindergarten, an image like here that helps to ensure we are on the right page, lol, because we are capable of being convinced that we are in the right place and messing everything up, so an image like this is more than welcome, it is crucial, lol, and a bit of kindness and attention in this harsh digital world is not a luxury, so to all these saviors of a humanity turned digital, THANK YOU!!!! And to whoever can solve this new problem, an even bigger thank you and a sweet and beautiful night to all! Nathalie
Hello,
There are different questions.
1) To close a stubborn program (here My Image Garden), you can go through the Task Manager.
You can open it by right-clicking on the Taskbar and then clicking on Task Manager.
Wait a few moments for the manager to list all ongoing processes. Then in the list, you will find My Image Garden.
Right-click on the line and choose End task.
-------------------------------
2) The role of My Image Garden:
It is not an essential software. It is an image manager, nothing more.
However, it is very useful for printing photos. But you do not need it to scan images.
--------------------------------
3) To scan:
In general, you use the printer's commands. It's the simplest, since you are necessarily next to the printer to load the originals. The result of the scan is sent to the computer.
If you haven't disabled it (that was the subject of the initial question), My Image Garden opens. Most of the time, it is of no use, and you look for the result of the scan in the file manager.
For more complex scanning tasks, for example, to scan only a part of an image, we use ScanGear. You call it from IJ Scan Utility:
Then you are presented with a very comprehensive set of commands, which allows you to fully manage the scanner.
Thank you!!!!
