Hello,
I hope I'm posting my request in the right place; if not, I apologize.

First of all, I wish you a happy new year.

I'm experiencing a problem with my computer that I can't resolve.
When I'm playing a game, my PC can freeze after a while, and I have to manually restart it.
When this happens, I check the event viewer and I find:

Error Service Control Manager ID 7000 appears

The Intel(R) PROSet Monitoring Service could not start due to the error:

The specified file was not found.

Here’s what it says in the event viewer details section:

This error occurs every time this happens...

I don't know how to fix the problem, so if anyone has a solution, I would be grateful.

Thank you in advance

Michel

I just saw that in the task manager, the Intel(R) Proset Monitoring Service has its status set to stopped.
So I'm thinking that maybe I could disable it to solve the problem.
What do you think? And how can I disable it?

Hello. I'm not sure that disabling the software is the right method.
Instead, reinstall it: https://www.intel.fr/content/www/fr/fr/support/articles/000005686/network-and-io/ethernet-products.html

I might have managed to fix the problem.
In the device manager, I realized that the Ethernet network card had no driver highlighted, at least the one that was supposed to be there wasn’t, and the most recent one wasn’t selected. So, I chose the latest driver from the list, and it seems to be working since then.

I will wait a few days to see if it holds or if this was not where the problem was coming from.

I will keep you updated.

Hello. Well seen.

Well, ultimately it didn't work, and my PC froze again while gaming... after 5 hours... it crackled and then nothing... everything was blocked...

Now I've done a BIOS update and reinstalled the driver for the graphics card...

I admit it's annoying me...

Hello. Have you tried the manipulation of my message <2>?

The problem is that I don't know where to find the file to reinstall it afterwards (at least which file I should take... and also where to find it to uninstall it...

if you can help me with that, I’m all ears.

It's definitely more complicated than I thought.
Can you take a screenshot of your device manager?

Here is a copy of my device manager (I expanded the network adapter section; I think it’s located around there, well at least I think so..

When it crashes, are you on the network?

And you are on Ethernet, not on Wi-Fi?

I don't have wifi on my desktop computer so I'm using ethernet

I also wrote on the Intel site and they just replied to me with a few questions, and I had to use the support utility system and send them the text file.

Hello.
I'm back to keep you informed following my contact with Intel.
After some checks, they had me completely uninstall the previous drivers for the network card and install a new driver that they had me download directly from their Intel website.
It has been 5 days since I performed the uninstallation and installation as per their recommendation, and the issue has not returned since.
They advised me to wait a few more days to see if the problem returns.
They will contact me again in 3 to 5 business days.

That's the news.

You're welcome, but I won't celebrate victory too quickly; I prefer to see if it holds up first.

Moreover, if this can help others who might encounter the same problem...
