Hello,
I'm trying hard to get a LaserJet Pro MFP M28W working. Printing seems to work via USB and Wi-Fi. However, I can't get the scanner to function. Can anyone help?
What seems odd to me is that in the browser, on my printer's configuration page, I only see Home / System / Copy / Networking ... while in the setup videos/images for the scanner, there appears to be a "scan" menu. Does my printer have an identity problem? Is there a therapist in the room :-) ?
Ubuntu 20.4 / hplip 3.20

Hi,
hplip is it installed?
xsane is it installed?
Your printer/scanner is officially supported and should therefore work.

yes hplip 3.20 and xsane. when I start scanning with Xsane, it makes noise (the scanner carriage moving forward and returning to the starting position) then gives me the error message "Failed to start the scanner: invalid parameters"

Thank you for your feedback. Indeed, it is officially supported. But I've read elsewhere that this specific model is not easy to use on Linux. I found (old) lists of printers showing ratings between 1 and 3 stars. It's funny, within the same brand, some are rated 3 stars, others 2 stars, and still others 1 star. Strange that it is not standardized.
