On Debian and similar systems, here’s what I would do:
Then I would try to declare the printer: in CUPS (click on this link) by following the instructions given here.
Otherwise, Canon doesn't seem to provide a Linux driver for this printer anymore. I hope it works so you won't have to change your printer...

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install printer-driver-cjet cups cups-client
