Inaccessible hard drive causing PC to crash

Hello hello!
Big problem that I’m sure has happened to many people!

For some time now, when I plug in my hard drive (Toshiba, 2TB), it is recognized by the computer, no problem there, but when I go to Windows Explorer, it crashes ("not responding"), and my whole PC starts to freeze, I can’t do anything except unplug my hard drive (which means I can’t eject it, ouch ouch ouch) to regain control.
I can no longer access the content, which is really bothering me, as you can imagine… And it’s the same on other computers…

I’ve visited lots of forums, and nothing I’ve tried has worked… Even when I managed to follow the instructions. I’m pretty good with this stuff, but sometimes, when it doesn’t want to work, it just doesn’t…

Help!!! I really need to recover what’s inside, my photos, my work… Does anyone have any solutions to suggest??

Thank you for your help!!

Well, the hard drive even causes Disk Management to crash; the page stays blank, or it becomes unresponsive, and I can't even see if the hard drive is being detected. When I unplug the hard drive, it stops crashing.

Thank you for your help!!

Good evening,
Welcome to CCM
Hard drive recognized by the PC, very good, but when it's connected to the PC, is it present in Disk Management?
In the search bar, type Computer Management and validate in the window, then select Disk Management from the vertical menu on the left.
Regards.

The one who doesn't please upon arrival always does so when leaving.
