Hello,
I have a MacBook Air from early 2015 running Catalina. I wanted to change my hard drive since the original one is full, so I bought a 500GB NVMe M.2 SSD from this link:
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B07YFF3JCN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And I used an adapter to connect it to my Mac from this link:
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B07FLPKYZX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But my hard drive is not visible in Disk Utility during the boot via CMD + R.
I then connected it via USB with another adapter, and this time I managed to detect it in Disk Utility, so I initialized it to the Mac OS Extended format with a GUID partition table.
In parallel, I created a Mac OS Catalina installation USB drive.
Then, after replacing my hard drive with my initialized new SSD, I once again found that it was not recognized, so I don't know what to do...
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you for your help

Hello,
Just a quick note to start: since Mojave, and especially for an SSD, the internal boot drive format is no longer Mac OS extended, but APFS. Just for your information.
Then, while looking at the link you provided for the SSD + adapter, I noticed in the reviews that one user had an issue and had to switch to another adapter, this one:
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07CXLGM61/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can't test it myself (I'm on iMac), I just tried to understand your issue, so this is just a simple lead...
PS: I imagine that the Mac was able to boot from your USB stick Catalina, and if that’s the case, once the SSD is recognized, you’ll be able to go through Disk Utility to format the SSD to APFS, on GUID schema.
Best regards
