Hello,
I have a problem with my Orange email. It was "blocked" after the termination of my Orange contract at the beginning of 2020.
I spoke with Orange, who told me they can no longer do anything because the termination was more than 6 months ago.
However, when I search online, it seems that it is possible to "unblock" it even after 6 months...
Do you have a solution to suggest to me, please?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 82.0

Hi
How do you know she was "ungrilled" by Orange?
It's surprising (we often see that some keep their mailbox for years) but well, after terminating a contract with a provider, nothing unusual
6 months is indeed the timeframe mentioned in Orange's terms and conditions
https://assistance.orange.fr/assistance-commerciale/la-gestion-de-vos-offres-et-options/resilier-votre-offre/les-conseils-avant-de-resilier-votre-messagerie-mail-orange_71178-72015#onglet1
You could have kept it by migrating to a "Free Access" subscription under certain conditions

Unfortunately for you, I haven't seen that one could "ungrill" a mailbox
Where did you see that? A link to provide us?

Hello kaumune,
I first checked with Orange before coming to CCM, which confirmed that following a cancellation, the mailbox was blocked. You need to proceed with the "free access" step within 6 months...
I can't remember where I read that it might be possible to "unblock" it after 6 months... But I'll look into it. If I find it, I'll let you know.
In any case, thank you for your research and your response confirming what Orange said.
Best regards

Beyond the controversies and pointless insults, not of your making, which bring nothing, a (tiny) hope: one must be wary of what the people from the Orange hotline say.
Most of the time, they are incompetent and merely read what is on their screen.
For example, before I also canceled, they told me my line was fine when the cable serving my village was physically cut.
Another example, they informed me that my email account was hacked when the problem was on their end.
The situation returned to normal without having done anything or made any changes.
When you try to connect to this mailbox via the Orange webmail, what does it say to you exactly?

Hello kaumune,
Here is what the message says:
- Contact the holder of the Orange internet subscription.
Only the holder of the corresponding Orange internet subscription can reset this password from their client area.
I don't want to expose the whole story. This problem arises from a separation. The box and fixed subscription is in the name of Mrs., who requested its cancellation... so
Don't worry about finding a solution anymore.
Thank you for this last attempt at troubleshooting.
Sincerely, jojo7981

Hello jojo7981,
Following a termination, there are two 6-month periods not to be confused:
- The legal obligation for the provider to keep the account active for 6 months before deleting the account and the associated address.
- The 6-month period during which a deleted address cannot be reassigned identically. This period starts at the time of account deletion, which is at least 6 months after termination, or a total of one year. It is then said to be "grilled."
It often happens that Orange "forgets" to delete accounts and addresses after the 6 legal months of account activity protection, sometimes for several years, posing great risks to those who continue to use it after termination because this account can disappear at any time with all its content, without notice and in an unrecoverable manner.
It has been a long time (almost 6 years) since it is no longer possible to request free access from Orange, which was only possible back then with proof of a fixed line RTC subscription.
This urban legend still persists, propagated by people who do not know what they are talking about and have not verified their claims.
The "ungrilling" so that it is possible to redefine a deleted address on another Orange account less than 6 months old is not an official procedure.
It is little known among Orange technical support staff, and often it is necessary to call and insist several times at 3900 to reach the right advisor and achieve satisfaction.
Beyond the 6-month "grill," the address falls back into the public domain, and anyone can appropriate it. Therefore, it is unnecessary to request its ungrilling after 6 consecutive months following an address deletion.
As long as an address is "grilled," if one attempts to define it on an account as an alias or secondary account, a message appears saying that it already exists.
That's what it is from a reliable source.

Good evening Kaumune and SerBal22,
Thank you for all your research and responses.
If I understood everything correctly, I can say goodbye to this Orange mailbox. It's certainly annoying, but I'll manage without it.
Best regards.

Hello "Dear" SerBal22,
Well no, I don’t want the butter, the money for the butter, and not even the smile of the cream seller... Only the cream seller’s smile, if anything...
I just want an answer to my question, which I have received, nothing more.
Know that your sarcasm doesn’t affect me at all. I simply think it comes from someone full of themselves. And to shed tears over my situation would be completely ridiculous, I don’t ask for that much...
However, I thank you for having “taken a look” at my problem.

So no, I don't want the butter, the money from the butter, and not even the smile of the creamer... The one from the cream man, maybe...
Sarcasm? Or what?
What were you hoping for? To cancel and continue using your email address and the resources of Orange indefinitely?
Know that in our mercantile world, that’s not how it works and Orange is a commercial company. Not a philanthropic organization.
A cancellation is a termination of a commercial contract at the request of the customer, and those who don’t pay are no longer entitled to anything (and still, you were granted a 6-month grace period to inform your contacts of your change of address).
It's not me saying this, but it’s the law.
If you had read the cancellation conditions before canceling casually, you would know this.
I sincerely apologize for providing you with the explanation, even if it’s not what you wanted to hear.

Hello jojo7981,
Indeed! When you cancel (of your own accord), you have to expect consequences!
The disappearance of the account is part of it, and it's not surprising: it's explained clearly in the cancellation conditions (but you still have to read them).
You want the butter, the money from the butter, and the creamery owner's smile!
You want regular customers who pay a subscription to cover the server resources used by your free messaging at Orange!!!
As an Orange customer, I say NO and I will not feel sorry for your situation.
