Jack recognition issue

Solved

Hello,

I just bought a Mi Note 10 Lite which I'm generally satisfied with, but it doesn't consistently recognize the 3.5mm jack. Before returning it, could you let me know if you have a solution for this inconvenience?

Thank you for your replies

Hello,

You are probably talking about the headset jack. Before returning it, make sure you have properly connected a headset and not just regular earphones (which lack a microphone).

The arrangement of the jack is different (three rings in the latter case versus four or five for a smartphone headset).

You risk having the same issue with any smartphone.

Unless there is a real contact problem.

Best regards

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I'm not an expert in this area at all, but I believe I'm talking about a standard headphone jack. I use it to connect an aux jack to my car.

The first time, the jack wasn't recognized, but the second time it was. I didn't have this problem with my previous phone, which is why I was wondering if there was a setting that needed to be adjusted.

Thank you

Hey,
Sorry, but what you're saying doesn't really hold up.
Assuming the problem concerns a microphone and a jack standard, it either works or it doesn't; it can't work once and not after. So there's no need to focus on jack standards, especially since it's the same standard everywhere, a 4-pole jack on smartphones, and the pinout is the same these days.
Moreover, even assuming the jack is 3-pole, which is not the case, it shouldn't prevent the headphone part from working; whether the male plug is 3 or 4 poles, only the microphone is affected. (backward compatibility is one of the purposes of this standard...).

As for Raf,
Does it work all the time if you force the jack plug in all the way?
When you say it doesn't work all the time, does sound continue to come out of the phone when it doesn't work, or does the sound stop coming from the phone but nothing from the headphones either?
