Hello,

I am planning to purchase this 4K Samsung TV soon: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201604260014.html Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a headphone jack and I need it to connect earphones or headphones.

While browsing the web, I saw that it is possible to use an adapter on the optical output (for example https://www.amazon.fr/PROZOR-Convertisseur-Adaptateur-Analogique-Amplificateurs/dp/B00KNNSKV0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1480584481&sr=1-1&keywords=adaptateur+jack+3.5+mm but that the sound is independent of the TV's sound.

So, does anyone have a way to connect via jack while still being able to adjust the volume with the remote control? Would a USB/jack adapter work on this TV?

Thanks for your responses.

Good evening,
Whether it’s through jack or RCA, the audio output of the DAC is a line output, so it’s not amplified, hence the need to connect a wireless headset that has its own amplification, and the TV remote can only control the TV’s amplifier.
In any case, wireless headsets have an easily accessible volume control since it’s on the headset itself.

Thank you for your response. Apparently, there's no other way than to use the optical output.

I was hoping to use my headphones (without volume control) like with my current TV. Oh well, at worst it’ll be an additional expense (or another TV).

However, to be sure, is the converter I found suitable for this TV?

Yes, this converter is suitable, but you can find a TV with a headphone output for the same budget, and by the way, plugging a headphone into the headphone output of a TV automatically disables the speakers.
I would add that UHD on a screen of this size is not a good idea; moreover, there are hardly any supports in this format.
Another issue is that UHD "upscales" HD, and the result is often disastrous, especially on entry-level UHD TVs.
Better to have a good full HD than a bad UHD.
One example:

NB: the 4K format is a commercial fraud as these formats are reserved for cinema.

Thank you for your feedback. It's true that I'm wondering about a 40" screen. I'm 1.5m away from my TV. Is it still good for a Full HD TV in your opinion?

Regarding the 4K TV I mentioned, most of the reviews and tests I've read praise the picture quality, especially considering the price. Also, I certainly plan to keep my next TV for as long as possible, since my current TV is already 8 years old (and still going strong). Wouldn't it be better to get a 4K TV anyway, or would it be pointless at this size (what size then)?

I forgot to mention that my TV usage is for gaming, movies, and series (almost exclusively through my PS4 currently).
