Hello,
I do video editing with Shotcut
I handle 2.7k videos at 60 frames per second
When I preview on the timeline... sometimes it stutters
My config
Ryzen 5 2600
16GB of RAM
Geforce GTX 780 4GB
My question: what is the main component I could upgrade to have a smoother timeline visualization
Thank you for your help

Hello, UHD files are 4 times larger and the codec is hard to work with for native editing, even with a powerful computer.
Stuttering in previews is therefore predictable and editing actions take longer.
Without judging your computer (laptop or desktop, it's not the same processor), memory is fine, but an SSD hard drive is now essential, which you don't mention!!!
Your software, which I don't know much about, may have functions in its settings for project parameters, export, and preview to optimize playback and hardware acceleration using CUDA or Intel.

Hello,
SSD to be provided if there isn't one
And the GPU
Best regards-
- Hello, the graphics card plays a relative role; before incurring expenses, I would test a more advanced software like Da Vinci Resolve with a more powerful engine to optimize your display with the same graphics card, which is far from entry-level.
I was wondering if we're talking about a laptop or a desktop?

Hello,
maybe you can reduce the preview rendering.
I know that Premiere Pro does it.

Hello,
I only have a GTX 1050 2GB, and during simple preview with a UHD file (AVC) with a video bitrate of 40 Mbps at 29.97 FPS or one at 12 Mbps and 60 FPS, I don't encounter any particular problems viewing the files in ShotCut.
Since the GTX 780 is superior to my GPU and ShotCut tends to use the CPU more than the GPU, it’s probably the project that is a bit too complex for the software to handle (total duration, number of clips, number of effects and filters, number of transitions very/too many... all of that in UHD at 60 FPS requires computational power)...
This is of course just a hypothesis...
Also check which display library is used by Shotcut (I don’t know if it has any relation or not): Settings --> Display Mode, which is either OpenGL, DirectX, or Automatic. I have DirectX even though OpenGL is recommended, I believe.
See "How does Shotcut use (or not use) the GPU?" (in English): https://shotcut.org/FAQ/#how-does-shotcut-use-the-gpu-or-not
Finally, you have the "proxy" method to work on your project, which you will export later with the desired configuration: https://forum.shotcut.org/t/how-to-proxy-edit-with-shotcut/1003
Seen from the topic previously mentioned by glandu ;-)
Best regards
