Hello,
At 3 ½ years old, my 40" Samsung TV (LED screen) is displaying a very dark and distorted image on the left half of the screen. I contacted the store where I purchased it, which offered to send the device to their technician for an estimate. The result: the panel needs to be replaced, which is very expensive: €503. So, no repair. I went to pick up the device, and when I connected the TV at home, the screen remained completely black and nothing happened—the TV is dead. Back to the store with the television, the technician checked it, and the manager explained to me that since the panel had been removed, it was not possible to return things to their original state. To summarize: I took my television, which was malfunctioning, to the store for an estimate, and when it came back, it no longer worked at all.
Has anyone else encountered this situation with a distorted and very dark image on part of the screen, and what do you think of the attitude of the salesperson and the technician?
Thank you for your opinions.

Hello,

You can already test the image if it hasn't been done by going to the settings, then assistance, then automatic diagnosis, and running the image test. This helps determine if the issue comes from the television.

What does it show? And does it work?

Hello,

Thank you for looking into my issue. I performed the image test before taking the TV to the store, and the results were as follows: Test 1: failed, Test 2: failed, Test 3: failed. In the result window, I was advised to contact Samsung, which I did. The response was: since the device is no longer under warranty, I need to contact a repair service. Thank you, Samsung.
As I explained in my first message, the TV no longer turns on; the screen remains hopelessly black, with no response at all.
Best regards.

Okay. Do you have sound with this black screen?

Hello,

Nothing works anymore, no picture, no sound, a dead TV.
The only light that appears is from the button under the screen on the right side: a red LED that indicates the device is powered on.

Alright. First, check that your TV is turned on and not in standby by pressing the power button.
Step 2: check all sources connected to your TV: Try multiple channels, with a DVD, a set-top box, attempt to display the configuration menu of your TV.

If the image appears with another source, the problem is therefore with a specific source.

Make the adjustments again by referring to the manual of your source (DVD player, home theater...). If it is the DTT, do a new channel scan, ensuring that the antenna is properly connected to the TV.

What does that give for now?

Currently, the television is in the store, so it's not possible to test it. But after bringing it home following the estimate informing me that the screen needed to be replaced, I noticed that the device seemed dead. When a television is turned on without any connections, it usually displays: no signal, whereas the screen remains hopelessly black. What I would like to know is whether it is really the screen that is faulty, or if it could be something defective and much cheaper than replacing that screen for €503. I have the feeling that they broke my TV in order to sell me another one.
